Why are costs higher and outcomes poorer in the US?

How long ago was that?

So, UHC is socialist. The US doesn't have UHC, but is socialist?

You made the comparison, where supposedly universal coverage and more socialism equals massively higher costs

We can test this pretty simply by looking at relatively income equivalent nations with UHC vs. non UHC
The average cost of a total hip replacement in 2012 was $40,364 in the United States, and about $7,700 to $12,000 in most European countries.
I'd imagine even a FAS baby can comprehend that 40k is a bigger number than 10k so what are you struggling with

Again, unless your scheme demonstrably lowers costs the way we saw healthcare costs decline in the US prior to dipping our toes in the marxist pool, there's no reason to assume that costs in the US would decline. There's a reason communist healthcare systems like yours find ways to limit access to resources to deal with inadequate budgets. You're just being an idiot; or perhaps in your culture what you're being is acceptably average.

When did the US adopt Marxism?

Cite some sources showing healthcare costs significantly declining over a period in the US in the past. We'll wait.

Healthcare has gotten more expensive everywhere because we have an ever growing population share of elderly individuals who require treatment which has become infinitely more complex and specialised over time. Comparing healthcare costs today to 1900 is peak FAS tier logic which is of course what we expect from you.

Since your basic premise is that the more socialist the healthcare, the more costs will be, we can examine this today - judging similar countries with similar income levels at the same stage of medical technology and complexity.

UHC countries are significantly more "socialist" than the US, and their costs are much lower in every case. Even when you look at the fully private hospitals in these countries. As always, reality is the exact opposite of whatever bile this FAS baby spews on a given day.

costs higher sure but again, worth it. Outcomes poorer I am eager to see. Too many people from overseas flying into the Cleveland Clinic alone makes extremely comfortable with our overall outcomes and that doesn't include all the other to tier facilities we have.

I take your position to be that it's "worth" paying more for poorer outcomes.

I disagree because "worth" refers to cost. My position is that if better outcomes can be obtained for lower cost, poorer outcomes are not "worth" paying more to obtain.

what are you basing these worse outcomes? And frankly, it's probably not a big deal. Like the drop off of care from #1 to #10 probably isn't enough for me to care. And paying more is fine by me, better than having the government get involved.

Child mortality and life expectancy as a couple of examples.

oh I thought this was healthcare only - we got a lotta fatties and a lot of no prenatal care moms. Universal healthcare ain't gonna help either of them.

Perhaps what you mean is that you "value" limiting who can access care moreso than the quality of care?

I love how JLC poses legitimate questions to Stizzel the Groomer challenging the BS that Stizzel the Groomer writes, but Stizzel the Groomer ignores those questions because he does not have a good answer. What a groomer.

No one tracked health care costs prior to the 60s because it was so cheap no one cared. It wasn't until recently that health care became so expensive that people have concerns about it. And of course we have immigrants like yourself that are so used to health care costs being out of control that the concept of anything else is completely foreign to you. You're so deluded that you don't even consider being asked to demonstrate a communist health care system resulting in greater quality and lower prices to be a fair challenge. It's preposterous. Even the idea of keeping prices stable without going to death panels and rationing is utterly beyond your comprehension.

We do have this comparable data for areas of medicine the government has not gotten involved in though, like cosmetics, lasik, etc. And it more or less mirrors what you see in any service industry that isn't subsidized. Probably because communism doesn't work.

how much could we drop the cost of healthcare just by reigning in malpractice suits

Not as much as we could by repealing the HMO laws from the 70s

So no evidence, gotcha.

Healthcare has became increasingly expensive the world over primarily driven by the following:

An over 2x higher elderly population who are the primary users of advanced medical care and surgery, requiring ever increasingly complex and specialised treatment as they age, as well as years of end of life/palliative care. This same pattern is found in every country regardless of their specific healthcare model or what changes they made to it over time, which should be the biggest clue even for someone of your mental capacity.

Of course, a baldcel FAS baby might seriously think that comparing healthcare costs in 2023 to healthcare costs in 1900 and concluding that the cost increase is due to the government is a valid line of logic, but that's why we don't let such people outside without helmets.

On the other hand, a cursory glance at universal coverage systems and comparing with the US at the same time period with the same complexity of medical care and the same exact procedures done in similar kinds of hospitals tells us, unequivocally, that universal healthcare does not leave you with the highest costs - if anything the trend is the opposite.

It basically all boils down to what kind of society we want to have. Is it more important a few rich people get that 4th yacht or is it better that everyone have access to healthcare? That's really all it boils down to. The irony is so many "Christians" here would rather let the poor be crippled in medical debt or be pushed out of access to healthcare.
