Only another small sub would be able to go down there, and I doubt they are made to tow anything plus the fact that it ain't like anyone can get out to rig up to it at that depth. Their only hope is if they are on the surface floating somewhere.

not really, they scale linearly by definition

they build small sphere subs so they can have a sub they can look out of, weaker material so it has to be an optimized shape.

Back when people respected the need for a quality controller. Luckily Xbox controllers still have removable batteries, so a battery outage could be easily addressed. Still, I would definitely want a hard-wired controller just for a guarantee of having no issues, wireless tech can sometimes have issues.

it is really weird how humans can fixate their concern on something so trivial killing a few richcels and ignore buses going over cliffs killing hundreds.

reminds me of that Damar Hamlin fiasco. Dude had the entire country rooting for him and then he goes incommunicado and a month later says he can't talk about what caused him to fall on the field. And now he's back to being a nobody NFLer....meanwhile blacks are killing each other left and right.

would be kinda cool if USOs surfaced saving them. aka the Abyss movie.

Human concern doesn't scale linearly with the severity of suffering or tragedy.

There are more human slaves now than at any point in history lol. We buy products made with slave labor every day, but no one gives a fukk as long as westerners don't have to physically look at it. But the entire country will drop everything and lose their chit if a rich person or HBB sloot goes missing. We are irrational.

Regular submarines cannot go very deep at all.

Deep submersible craft are built in the style of the bathyscaphe Trieste, which descended to 35,000 feet in the Mariana Trench near Guam, the deepest point in the ocean.

The "cockpit" if you will is fashioned in a ball configuration so it can withstand the incredible pressure at these depths.

My father worked on it back in the day.

P.S. you Trekkies out there will be pleased that the designer of the Trieste was named Piccard.

He told an interviewer in 2021 how his submarine, Challenger Deep, had sustained a damaged thruster during his journey to the 'truly spectacular' Mariana Trench, which lies seven miles below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

'The sub has many safety features, including four days' reserve of oxygen, water and emergency rations,' he said.

'The only problem is that there is no other sub that is capable of going down there to rescue you. It will take three years to build another one.

'So, having four days of supply doesn't make a difference really.

'If something goes wrong, you are not coming back.'

You'd think they'd have an emergency flotation bag... Seems like a really basic safety precaution for dives that are out of the reach of rescue.
