A happy life does ^ not indicate. So the OP was clear here - why do these folks feel so compelled to try to provide financial advice when they are singularly ill equipped to do so? Like virgins on this forum speaking of the female orgasm, lol.

Why? Indeed. Why do they care so much?
Yeah, I don't know wtf is going on here - the history/context.

IF someone has to repeatedly gloat about something and make it part of their persona, then they may not be so content with it imo.

Just like, as we've discussed before, I'm a loner and love being single. I don't need to announce that to the world.

People who feel the need to do/post shyt like this, are full on COPING and not content (otherwise they wouldn't feel the need for such cringe shyt)-

They fail to calculate how muchtimethey spendworrying about their financial situationand remaining within their envelope. Old TV? Sure. To watch 'thousands of hours of TV'? Sounds like a great life right? Err...

Yup. We spoke about this before and I get you and believe you. My brother is similar - though he has been on some dates again, he regaled me of an encounter with a modern woman at a nice restaurant: "Look, LL. She's hot? Sure. But she spent 2 hours whining about how she has been abused her whole life, has ADHD, has Depression, has X, has Y, has Z, woe is me" so he noped outta there. I fully acknowledge that "happily married" can be rare, and requires a lot of work and luck to achieve and maintain.

it's projection to think all people must continually chase some subjective "higher quality" of life when they are already happy and content. THAT is called being trapped by the rat race/materialism/consumerism.

I think we definitely need to chase purpose

the purpose needn't be "to improve one's QoL to a higher level"

None of the early retired people here or most anywhere talk about scraping by. They usually talk about having all they need/want in life.

This is a hard concept to grasp for people who have been molded by the mindset of always pushing for more, more, more.

after he retired at 60 with a giga fat pension he started a small woodwork business making handmade tables - it made his hands juicy as ****, kept his mind on something and he made close to 50% of his ministry of defence income

I brought up elements of this earlier ITT, so when those folks say to 'engage on substance', just recall that they ignore it whenever it is inconvenient for them. A simple fact is that richer Americans account for a significant amount of foreign aid - more than many countries on this planet produce themselves. An intention manifesting in an outcome that is only possible because these folks engaged.

Anyone can "retire cheap" if you want to be a cow grazing on a plain field, day after day. If that's "living", wow. Especially when these folks can't even afford health insurance, lol.

I wouldnt go as far as wealth creator worship because to me that is a false dichotomy as resources have existed since forever - they are just hedged against rules we created ourselves and systems that allows us to move forward/

Various actors with various leverages occur in this system defined by bio-physio-socio-psycho-logical written and unwritten rules, which also a lot of times pre-determine certain fates.

Thus I think some people naturally cant be Jeff Bezos, but I have seen giga disabled (benchmarked relatively to average human condition) people live and breath certain aspects of their life (e.g. activism).

I just dont think I will ever be able to rot all day whether I am CEO-maxing or post man maxing.

I missed that earlier - probably thought you were being facetious. Is that what is going on, too? Check the bottom of the previous page where I ether that guy who spouted 'rat race' cope, while fantasizing (instead of appreciating his own wife and kids) about being single and marrying a divorced woman with a kid, so that her ex can fund his life...

It's sick on so many different levels.
