Is the misc dead because we don't get new young members?

I joined bb.com for lifting advice and then stumbled on the Misc from the new posts section. I was only in the Female Bodybuilding section before.
Yet I’m old and I’ve been on various forums for 20 years. Most people I know IRL don’t go on forums.
I took a year break and a 3 month break recently but I got tired of just reading the news and some of the threads are still entertaining here.
Still I’m glad some posters left as they were really negative.

When I posted actively in R&P like 12+ years ago, most of the people arguing in that sub on a daily basis still lifted from what I could tell. Same with most Miscers back then. These days it seems like the majority of Miscers either don't lift at all or do it halfheartedly on an occasional basis when they aren't smoking weed and eating dogchit food in a dirty basement. Sad to see.Youre posting on the misc section. There's plenty of dedicated subforums on here to lifting.

Young guys now don't join forums. They just look at youtube for fitness advice and follow influencers on insta and tiktok. We did dumb chit when we were young and posted about it on the misc. Now we're older and have families/careers/responsibilities and can't do as much dumb chit. Also some of the funniest craziest posters were banned and never bothered to try and come back.

Never thought of it (never bothered to think why either), but you are right. This place always used to have new young guys joining for the lols and the discussions. But this obviously has stopped, which will 100% lead to the death of the forum. Reddit + tiktok, ig, etc. have taken the wheel
