There's so many good quotes that he brings up too:

Ok....here are my last 3 posts on the forum (before I posted in this thread). Yep....sounds like a lot of bragging

Saying that there are indeed happy marriages out there is not a brag by the way. BUT it takes two people who have the character to put their own egos aside and dedicate themselves to the other. Many marriages are doomed before they start. Many people are too self centered to be married. Marriage takes work. A lot of it invested on working on yourself.

I am lucky enough to know quite a few happily married people. I believe in the power of energy that you surround yourself with. I dont care to associate with men who disrespect their wives or cheat. I dont even want to be around it. Same for women. My wife is the same. Years back she ended a very good friendship that she realized her 'friend' was always trying to point out faults in me. She was trying to drive a wedge in between us as she was very unhappy in her marriage. She like to bash men, and I was a target for her. Anyway, in a good marriage you always put each other first and anyone who does not support your marriage is not someone to invest time or energy with.

Many miserable, negative, unhappy people in this world will try to pollute your view of what the world can be. You can buy into it, and believe that no one is happy, and no spouse is worth it, or you can understand that there are indeed good people out there. And happy people.

My advice to anyone considering marriage. Look at the persons family. Look at how they treat their family members, their friends, etc. Talk about their values and their hopes in life. ONLY marry someone who is exactly in line with what you want out of life. Especially on important issues. Kids, work, religion (for some), MONEY.

Marriage is hard enough. But marrying someone who is on the same page as you with their hopes and dreams and values makes it a lot easier. In 22 year, my wife and I have never had a fight about work, money, or how to raise our kids. We have had our share of struggles, but fighting about the first two issues kills more marriages than I can count.

Prenuptial agreements are not as rock solid as people think. They get thrown by courts all the time.

Yeah, thats the one thing I disagreed with him on. He talked about prenups like they are the "end all to be all" marriage protection.

Here in California, prenups only account for assets accrued before you were married. If you get married and buy a couple more houses a boat and some cars, all that chit get split, but you still get to keep your beat up Datsun you drove in HS, lol.

I'm sure he would have talked about how prenups vary from state to state, the conversation just never moved in that direction.

He did cheat and was making a lot of money when he asked for a divorce to be with his mistress. So I was fully justified in taking alimony but I didn't.

What do you mean he "made you quit your job" to be a stay home mom for years? At the end of the day, you made the choices to go along with all of that.

All I know is, there are two sides to every divorce story, and I'm heistant to fully take just one person's side of it at face value when they have literally nothing good to say about their ex or their time together with the ex. Makes it seem like you'd say anything to chit on the guy. Meanwhile, there was a point where you saw fit to marry and be with the dude for like 15+ years or whatever it was you said. Something about that math and your implication that he was 100% at fault for everything that went wrong in the marriage doesn't quite add up.

I don’t think a prenup can HURT your situation.

I’d rather pay $2k upfront if I had millions to lose and at least try to protect myself a litttle better.

If a woman won’t discuss a prenup then that’s a huge red flag right there. I see no drawbacks to doing a prenup these days, I’ve heard many high earning woman ask for it too.

I think it makes sense to have one. But there are things people don't realize.

1) they are expensive AF. Most states require both parties to hire their own attorney to represent them through the process. Even if you fully agree to terms, you cannot legally enter the contract without paying two overpriced lawyers to argue and stir up drama. I know one couple who spent over $10k on a simple prenup here in Texas, and they had no disagreements.

2) Prenups generally cannot be used to establish custody or child support. There are specific provisions in most states that bar you from even mentioning these in a prenup. Meaning the most expensive part of the process will just get litigated anyway.

3. Even after all of that, a lot of judges still won't honor them. So you're spending huge amounts of money on an agreement that only covers half the areas of exposure... and quite likely won't even be enforceable for that.
