I'm not lying. Last year, I actually made $427k. It's not that much and yes, I live almost paycheck to paycheck.

Life is expensive. Food and housing is expensive. Entertainment is expensive. I always thought the more I make, I will have more money to save. But **** just happens and BAM, you have nothing left.

Pretty much this. Bills just add up seemingly out of nowhere. People think if you make more money, you keep proportionally more in your pocket. WRONG. You get taxed the **** out of your paycheck and if you're not married or have kids, you will get slaughtered for round 2 when tax season comes. You end up owing MORE.

The best part is when you cash in your RSU's or company stock, where they take another 38%, not counting capital gains tax. It's just absolute robbery.

Literally, government tells you to pay more, after they pillage 40% from your paycheck. When it's all set and done, you basically end up with a whopping 50% of your yearly compensation in your pocket.

My man... those property taxes are not monthly.. I'm sorry you missed those.

Second, there are TONS of houses in Chicago under $400,000 -https://www.zillow.com/chicago-il/un...Zoom%22%3A9%7D

Third, don't buy a brand new 2023 car. That's idiotic to even use that in an argument. Nobody needs to buy a current-year car and get a $730/month payment lol. Never in history has that been normal.

Your arguments are just falling flat. Buy a car that is $12,000, you'll get PLENTY of car for that money, used, reliable, etc.

I'm looking at this again and you 100% screwed up the house cost. Here.

A $400,000 home (which is more home than a beginner needs) would have a monthly payment of $2,370. That includes the principal payment as well as interest payment.

Throughout the entire US, the average property tax on a $400,000 home is $367/month.
That's $2,737/month. Add home insurance and call it $2,900/month.

That's $2,900/month. Average American brings home over $6,000/month AFTER taxes. That means the average person has over $3,000/month to spend on everything not home related, per month. Don't go buying brand new cars.

That's SINGLE, get yourself a partner and get married and your taxes go down and you're fine. If you don't earn as much as the average person, try harder. Get clever. Find ways to make normal money, or better.
Do you live in IL? No. Zero houses have a $367 monthly property tax LOL.

Bro I literally used a real estate calculator for all my numbers.

Imagine thinking the state with the second highest property taxes in the nation would utilize the average property tax.

Are you literally fukking retarded?

Then you call me retarded for using the AVERAGE CAR PAYMENT PRICE?

Holy fuk hahahahahahaha

Go type in 400k house in Will County. It has an average property tax of 2.710. Cook county (chicago) has 2.1, but of course you either pay a higher cost for a house or you live in ghettos and ****holes.

This isn't true after taxes, water and insurance. A 400k home in Chiicago is about 3k per month. This doesn't include power or maintenance.

I know because I have two mortgages in Chicago.

edit: actually 3.1k because my taxes went up again this year.

You have to make 150k+ a year in this state otherwise you live in poverty.

Hold up right there, boyo. The average American does not make 6k a month AFTER taxes, LMAO! The median household income is 70k before taxes. So that's 35-40k each person, or 3k BEFORE taxes.

Your average American is basically broke and never going to be able to afford a house.

We did it, Joe!

I paid $7.19 for a double quarter with cheese last week, was starving.

That damn thing was worth every penny when hungry. Mega protons, onions, dressings, perfect. Was full for like 5 hours, no fries, that's crap. Ordinarily I don't eat fast food, but my day got sideways on me after a heavy gym day.

I agree though, combo meal like $12 wtf and the food is chit now. McChicken is more like McBreading and people feeding that to their kids?

Not sure if you use truck for work, but if not..

I'm a big Dave Ramsey guy and it's easy to just make fun of you for such a big expensive status symbol, they're usually modded as well, to keep up with the rest of guys in the trailer park.

But really looking at the math, with expensive new trucks it's not the payments that are killing you, it's the insurance. The trucks are holding value really well so the deprecation is negligible in a lot of cases. A custom Tacoma with desirable options, or the GMC or Chevy with the turbo 4 Cyl is probably going to go up in value. That's a first in my lifetime for a vehicle off the assembly line.

So here's the problem. You can't afford it but you can afford the payments, maybe. Lender needs insurance that you pay for in case you wreck it. On a 70K truck that's $150 to $223 for me, with a clean CDL and no accidents EVER.

Another variable: Use it. I paid off my house moving people's crap around with my truck. That was an old paid off Tacoma, but if you got the equipment and are not scared of picking up a washer, cash will help you out.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
