Got chronic tinnitus in my left ear at 19 years. Im 27 now and the ringing is still there unfortunately.
Had a bad stomach flu and first noticed the ringing during recovery. I thought the ringing will eventually go away but sadly it never did.

Fortunately though, your brain gets used to it and kinda cancels it out of your consciousness, so i pretty much live as without having it (unless im focusing on the ringing).

Tinnitus really teaches you how your inner emotional state affects your perception. The loudness of the ringing can range from barely noticable to fukken jet-engine next to your ear depending on whether you are happy or stressed/depressed. I also tended to focus on the ringing more often when i had hardships in my life.

Uhm... I mean if you are saying the brain perceiving pain when there is no actual mechanical damage and since it is the brain sure you can say phycological pathway but that doesn't mean it is controllable

also, certain types of inflammation can cause cellular damage that can cause pain via lot of neuronal pathways, not visible at all on an X-ray, CT, MRI

Now imagine that the flight is not 5 hours long, but rather it is 24/7/365 for the rest of your life.
Imagine being an Afghanistan or Iraq war veteran who not only has an arm or leg blown off, but due to the roadside bomb explosion, you have a screeching, squealing, roaring madness in your head permanently.

There is a reason that blasting sound in a cell room has been a form of prisoner torture since way back.

Hope that you don't ever develop it OP, cuz if you do there is a chance that you may put a gun in your mouth and pop that cap to end the never-ending, life-destroying noise.

There is expected to be a surge of it in the coming years due to the use of headphones, ear buds, etc.

Oh, and by the way OP, referencing your post - - - tinnitus was not invented by "Big Pharma" just so they could sell a treatment, cuz THERE IS NO TREATMENT for it.

Best wishes OP. Merry Christmas. For some people, they will never again experience a "Silent Night".

Anyone who thinks tinnitus doesn't exist should watch The Sound of Metal. It's one of the most disturbing watches regarding hearing loss you'll ever see. It won the Academy Award for Best Sound because of the portrayal of a man being mostly deaf as a drummer. Ever since I saw it I have worn earplugs even just to rehearse with my band.

I know what it is. I've experienced it, but it's kind of been a blessing. I get this ringing in my ears whenever I'm doing something that is going to get me into trouble or be consequential to me. I remember someone calling it the death bell and said it's when someone you know is going to die, but haven't had that happen. I hear it, and if I continue, things go badly. There have been times where I stopped, or changed course and then saw later how I saved my own ass. I could imagine if it just went off for no reason it would drive you nuts.

Autism is real, but highly exaggerated as an issue. Now every kid who has even the slightest quirk "has autism". Plus, all of those "high functioning" autists you hear about seem like they're just a bit weird, and they are more than capable of living a fairly life if they want to. It's ridiculous to me when it gets hyped as a much bigger deal than it usually is in most autists.
My in law says he’s autistic and it’s like no you’re just a smug condescending cuck know it all who just graduated college

You're just wrong about this. Bad long-term acid reflux not properly treated can physically ruin a person's throat and eso****us, (the word for food pipe is censored... lol) among other issues. It's known to cause cancer, and people get hospitalized with uncontrolled vomiting in really bad cases. There literally exists surgeries to correct physical issues that cause it. But by all means, keep calling people liars about it.

I have had them, which is why I know it's a scam to extract money by big pharma. Everyone has these things..... The solution isn't dealt with via the symptoms. It's almost always psychologically based. Surely you understand how digestive issues are often mentally based? These other ailments I've listed are exactly the same. Restless legs? Lmfao. C'mon man

Sitting here listening to this fake ringing in my left ear that has never stopped since I had a fake episode of vertigo back in 2017.

To be fair there is nothing I can do about it from a medical standpoint. I just deal with it. Probably should have stuck with stock stereo systems in my cars all along, and probably should have invested in silencers when I was much younger.

I've been hearing my fake chronic ear ringing/hissing since about 2008. I have no idea why I make the active choice to constantly subject myself to prison torture techniques just for the sake of it when I could have magically made it stop years ago. Funny how "big pharma" and all doctors tell you there's no cure and no remedies so just get used to it living with it. But yeah, tinnitus is all a big pharma scam.

Shot enough guns and can guarantee tinnitus is real. Always wear proper ear pro kids.

Mine pretty much sounds like this non-stop "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". Some days it is louder than others. Right now it is pretty annoying. Sometimes I can pinch my nose and blow out like we used to do to equalize our ears when diving and that will make it stop temporarily.
