Prolly hard to even conceive how quickly they died as we can only base our understanding of that time on what we've observed blink of an eye/instantaneous/etc and can relate to.

The torque wrench discussion is funny because it assumes the thing was engineered with a proper torque spec specified.

This thing was designed in the aisle of Home Depot based on what parts they could fit together that were in stock. I can promise you that nobody even knew the thread pitch on the bolts to reference a torque table. lol

Supposedly there were a bunch of sensors installed into the main tube using self tapping wood screws directly into the carbon lol. This story gets more ridiculous by the minute.

Not everything is a conspiracy. The shark kid got a whole lotta press too because it's a harrowing situation that has strong appeal to emotion. Or for a lot of people they saw this as a great opportunity to make tasteless memes. The info that came out re the poor design of it plus CEOs antics lead to the kind of plot twist that's worthy of a movie. It was like watching a documentary unfold in real time. I for one actually looked it up everyday and I'm sure a lot of others did too. Can't think of a situation where this doesn't get a lot of press. Just all around a crazy story. I feel bad af for the victims but it was fascinating to watch unfold. Kinda like watching Titanic for the first time srs.

Additionally, seems some posters here never heard about "If it bleeds, it leads" when it comes to the media.

For anyone here interested in the nature (and science) behind submarine accidents, technology, and mystery, you can read (many places, including Wikipedia) about the loss of the USS Scorpion - SSN-589.
It sank back in 1968, and you will read about the many conflicting theories as to the cause, but I am sure it was just part of an advance effort (by 55 years) to a dastardly and pre-planned Hunter Biden cover-up plot. . . . . . .

Yeah the biggest problem with Carbon Fiber is how it doesn't hold up well to changes in pressure. Like it's good for stuff like car panels/parts where you are always on land and the air and basic g-force stress is your only enemy. When it comes to subs you need something to withstand expanding and contracting under immense pressure.
