I think he always has been. The show has fallen victim a bit to too many character arcs. This whole Kreese thing honestly they could have done without, it's kind of a waste.

Right now they have:
Tori versus Sam still.
Johnny versus Daniel still.
Robbie versus Kenny.
Kreese versus Japan person (with no note at all about how the hell did he get overseas having escaped prison).
Johnny's family issues.
Kenny's family issues.
Miguel's school issues. Plus re-introducing old characters like Asian kid, Hawk etc.

It's just too much.

No real funny jokes, no big surprises or good cliffhangers, Chozen hasn't done anything badass, Johnny hasn't done anything spectacularly stupid.

What has happened to Tori she looks 15 years older, and sam has not been able to hold back the weight gain.

Johnny vs Barnes was anticlimactic. Why was Barnes down on Devon so much for no reason just to set up a nonsensical heel turn?

Kenny also grew 3 foot in the years long break between seasons.

Daniels son literally has no reason to be in the show.

The new Korean badass kid is cool but since we know this is the final season we know he's losing at the tournament.

It's gone from being a great show to feeling almost like a soap opera, just going through the motions. Nothing memorable at all in the first 5 episodes.

It was already pretty high in S1. I tolerated the cheese because I love the original movie, and it was great to see the guys back but thats all I could handle. It seems to be focused on teen tiktok drama, I guess they needed to insert that to relate to the modern audience and sell it, but I wish they had just focused on the core characters and ditched the kids stuff. From what I have seen its super cringe. Im tempted to watch just to see Martin Kove who is a bad ass. I wish they had brought Dutch back also, that would have been fun. Guy was a psychopath.
