- The US will need to either commit big money to increase defence capabilities in the ME or Iran can easily dictate terms by attacking US allies like Qatar, Saudi etc.
- If there are no boots on the ground, then it will not end. No region has ever been conquered or dictated by air in history.
- All Iran needs to do is destroy a single ship to create doubt and the entire straight stops. It's a strategic advantage - the US has to defend every ship which is significantly harder and I don't see Trump caring that much.
- The only question is how long both sides can wait it out before someone folds
