I have nothing against country. I was raised around it in rural northern California. LOTS of hicks up there. Lots of farms and agriculture and beat up trucks with 6' lift kits driving on the freeway etcetera, etcetera.

The problem with them is that they are the epitome of LDARotters. They all went to the same HS, stay in their same 20k populus town marry the girl they met from church or school, settle down working the rest of their lives in some factory or sawmill have absolutely no ambition to ever do or see anything and everything outside of their bubble is seen as weird and a threat to their life.

More to the point I really hate how they have pride in being ignorant or uneducated about how the world works or other people and places. They justloveto bitch about politics. Every opinion of theirs is anecdotal to their own little world, but they think the entire world would be better if everyone lived like they do, even though the most they know about the world is what they remember from their US History class as a Junior in HS.....and yeah, they're laid back because they yearn to go back to their carefree days when they were in highschool....so they live their entire lives....like they're in highschool, but without actually learning anything. They work 5 days per week and are chitfaced by 17:05 on a Friday evening all the way through Monday morning and ride ATV's out in the sticks and have cookouts and bbq and bonfires every week. Maybe this wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't for the fact that these guys are in their 30's doing this chit with absolutely no level of education outside a HS diploma and no work experience besides that time they worked as a mechanic for their dad. I recently went back, and it was nice to catch up with those guys, but that life of complacency is soul sucking. Before they know it, they'll in their 50's with a beer gut and hypertension and borderline disability (from "blue-collaring" it their whole life) lounging around on their makeshift front porch mobile trailer with bunch of rusted out cars scattered around that you use for parts and drinking lemonade out of empty mayonnaise jars. I just couldn't believe they're still doin' the same ol' chit that we use to do when we were juniors in HS (which was about 12 years ago).

We can't all work in an office, some of us have to break our backs as ditch diggers. I'm going back to California after i'm finished with school, but I can't move back to my hometown. It was fun while it lasted, but sometimes you just have to move on in life.
