I spend 700 USD on rent including internet, water and heat. That's about 65% of my income, lmao... But I'm a student.
When I'm working full time post graduating I'll probably spend 15-25% of my income on rent, including utilites.
40% is more the less money you earn. A guy earning 50k USD a month and spending 20k on rent is not spending too much on rent, imo. But a dude making 2.5k and spending 1k is.
So it depends on your income OP.
