Yeah, thats why a person from one of the poorest countries in the world is the fastest sprinter the worlds seen!

Most olympic sports are free to train. Running/Swimming/long jump/high jump... It really doesn't cost money to be a good olympian. Indians just have trash genetics and lack of athleticism

imo it's a good thing, poor countries shouldn't waste a ****load of money on such a trivial thing as sports. to everybody saying it doesn't cost anything to run, it does , how can you run as full time job if nobody is willing to pay for it, most sports in the olympics aren't really Professional and the athletes can only be able to train full time because of government funding

Seriously there is no excuse for India. Just look at Iceland (population of 300k), they beat England (who produces some of the finest soccer players in the world) the latest Euros (were teams put their absolutely strongest squad)

India has 4000 times as many people. Four thousand times!!!

The USA is able to compete in soccer with world's bests teams, even if soccer is considered a small sport there (after the NFL, NBA, MLB and the NHL).

Seriously, there's is NO REASON for India to be so poor at sports

lack of funding and no encouragement at school level. The gymnast that ranked 4th in the world was denied physio by Sports Authority of India.
Karmakar is one of only five women who have successfullylanded the Produnova, the most difficult vault currently performed in women's gymnastics.[8] She also won a bronze medal at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, both firsts for her country.

India doesnt value athletics and sports. Nothing will change as far as sports goes until they start giving a fuk about athletics. It's only recently that they have gotten a cricket league in India. India is a very corrupt nation. I've been there 4 times in my life and not once has this changed. People ask me "why aren't you proud of your country?" To these people I say go there once and you will find out exactly why I am it proud of my country. They are stuck in their corruption and stuck in their ancient customs and ways of thinking. It's not a matter of being talented or good at sports, it's a matter of valuing at at a young age. They do not value sports at a young age. They are against this and instead urge their children to focus on their studies. This isn't a bad thing but this is the reason why sports aren't popular there. It's not about population either. A nation can be 1000 times more population than India but they will never breed athletes if they don't value it and teach the children about it at a young age.

Yedlin is a starter for a EPL team and Miazga was just purchased by Chelsea. Pulisic is the starting striker for Dortmund. Tim Howard for a EPL team before going back to the MLS because of old age. That's 4 guys from a league where the average salary is 100k$ that got to play on the worlds biggest stage, where players get 30M$ left and right with 100M$+ transfer fees.

Seriously, saying that India doesn't care about sports is a bad excuse. You got 4 times as many people than the leading country for olympic medals. All you basically need is a single sports complex with a running track and a pool and scout kids from high schools

What do they even do then? I'm normally weirded out by people (males) that aren't into any kind of sport, but a whole country? Strange culture (no racist).

I suppose there's cricket..

Point being they are a very poor country but have top tier sprinters. Kenya is also very poor and has top tier marathoners. There's no reason India couldn't do the same. In fact their GDP is way bigger than both of those countries. They could spend some money to develop a program and it wouldn't even put a dent in their economy.

India's GDP = $2.29 trillion
Jamaica's GDP = $14.36 billion
Kenya's GDP = $69.977 billion

Hell, they could even just take a fast guy and send them to the US to go to college and run track which would cost them basically nothing as a country. Then said fast Indian guy could get all that training and still compete for his country (many athletes from other countries do this). Problem is there is no fast Indian guy to do this.

Matter of fact the only fast Indian is this one....

Great movie by the way.

lol, a lot of unaware retarded miscers in here. Getting Olympic medals is all about budgeting/funding.

Athletes in certain countries have MASSIVE advantages due to receiving proper funding/infrastructure/"supplements"/etc

The reason China has a lot of Gold Medals is because of "Project 119", which is a program devised specifically to boost the country's Olympic medal standings.

I can't even hate on India when it comes to the Olympics.

They don't win because theyliterally don't care.
