cure is accutane brah.

glad you're taking the jump into accutane OP. no one should have to worry about phucken zits in their 20s. Get on it ASAP so your scars dont become a problem in the future.

I've tried the sheets but they just kept falling off, and didn't help too much. Plus my scars seperated apart so I'd need many sheets.

I've had the steroid injections with Kenalog 10. I had about 3 sessions of injections, and they temporarily got lowered, but eventually raised back up again. I also have hyperpigmentation along my back, and the texture of my skin is riddled with little white bumps, which I'm assuming are small scars. I just don't know if I'll ever be able to fix them. It kinda gets me down a lot, but I've just accepted it.

It's really ****ty to not be able to take your shirt off in front of people especially if you've got a decent physique lol.

I'm sure its been said over and over agian in this thread but seriously bro, get on the tane asap. The only regret I had after doing it (4 years ago, then did another cycle about a year ago), was that I didn't do it sooner. After I got done with my first cycle I went from having a pizza face to having a friend tell me he was jealous of how great my skin was.
keep hustling cuz

My derm is a sloot who only hires other sloots, srs. All the staff and receptionists are sloots. She got that fake smile in her eyes every time she sees me, pisses me off that she acts like she cares, when all she really cares about is money. But I've been to 4 dermatologists already, and I guess it doesn't really matter who I get my accutane from.

Dermatologists are literally the lowest form of life on the planet. Why give someone a legit cure and improve their life and make them happy, when you can drain money from them by making them pay for over-expensive medicine that doesnt work?
Lots of doctors fall under this. Btw op, how do you shave? Wet, electric? Which direction?

how did you respond to antibiotics? one other thing that helps when acne is mostly where your facial hair is is to do laser hair removal... it incinerates bacteria living in pores and also resets your hair growth, worked wonders for me when i was about your age

My derm pretty much told me that he can give me some expensive useless chit or that he will just straight away prescribe me accutane and get over with it. I haven't had a pimple since.

reason some dont want to give you accutane is cause they can get sued so easily if something goes wrong. and there is a CHIT ton of possible things that could go wrong with accutane if not properly monitored

You might be on to something here. When I was in Miami for a week, each day I would swim in the ocean and didn't have one zit. When I got back home, a few zits sprouted a few days later. That sea water def did prevent the zits from appearing, IMO.

I used to have really bad acne, probably even as bad as yours OP. You can apply creams and other remedies til the cows come home but for acne that serious accutane is the only solution. I was on it for a year and it's an absolute miracle. Plus the sooner you get on it, the less scarring you will have in the future.

Not sure if it's been raised already in this thread but protein powder and dairy ****ed with my skin the most. Can't find the studies - my derm printed them out for me - but it was about whey based protein powders causing spikes in insulin levels which can **** with your skin. Try swapping to rice/pea based protein powders, cut out milk/cheese/etc and see if that helps. Also do you have pets? Because my skin always gets better when I'm away from my dog for a week+.

Got a long term prescription for accutane. I don't even have to show it to the pharmacist, I just call them up and ask for them to get it and I'll swing by them at 6. I never even had as bad of acne as OP, just a couple of pimples when I was younger so I just do a 5mg regimen on and off so everything stays clear. Fuk wasting years on other crap that doesn't work and will only have you end up with holes in your face.

For me, eating chocolate/dairy/fast food was what made it worse. I'd go months without eating them and then binge for 2 days and all of a sudden a couple of pimples popped up.

I'm sorry OP

As an acne sufferer I know them feels. I still get them but only on my chin. The big cystic kind. I've been able to hold them off just by washing face + BP in the morning and washing face + BHA (Stridex) at night.

I've never had acne but in every acne thread everyone says it stopped when taking accutane.

I'm surprised you spent 5000 dollars before trying it, I don't know if they scammed you or what.

I had acne similar to OPs up until 18 where I researched on the net and decided that I needed accutane. I went to a doctor, he gave me a referral for severe cystic acne (same as you). I didn't tell the dermatologist that I wanted, but he prescribed it within 5 minutes. Accutane best thing I ever did for myself.

You'll still have scarring at the end, so start preparing to grow facial hair which masks it a lot.

BTW to anyone who has bad enough acne and wants it gone: do not attempt to discover the cause. E.g. don't try and determine if its food, allergy, not swimming in the ocean etc. These efforts are fruitless and ultimately lead to more scarring because it doesn't get treated. Don't worry what the cause is because you'll never know - you only need to know that accutane cures it.

You'll get dry as fuk lips and face but that's about it so buy moisturiser.

its almost always hormonal anyway, usually combined with stress from having too much acne, which causes a nasty cycle

Well could be exfoliation, potential, and ph related. Could also be the sun exposure (more likely). I don't see many tanned people with acne.

Did you get any side effects/ lose your gains when you started taking accutane?

And how long did it take to work?
Mine was worse than yours, did accutane

Sides are minimal but do a small dose for a long time rather than a large dose for a short time... It's cumulative dose that matters, and it's worked out based on your weight

You also want your lipids and liver enzymes checked while you're on it so you don't end up with liver damage - whoever prescribes you with it should do this but if you source it from somewhere else get the bloodwork done yourself. There are also some mental health sides with depression/suicidality which you are gonna have to lie about being depressed because they fear lawsuits - a word on that is that you're probably already depressed and suicidal with all that chit on your face so it's not gonna get any worse than it is, and a low dose isn't gonna give you those sides that bad anyway.

Get on it, get off it, hope it doesn't come back or that if it does come back it's minimal and easily covered up

Also, take your medication with a fatty meal - I would have either minced meat or sausages or cheesy chips or something like that every day at pill taking time - it's most easily absorbed by the body if it is taken with fatty foods

Just lol at benzoyl peroxide. Does nothing.

Pop your zits then hit the skin with pure alcohol will do more than poverty benzoyl peroxide..

If you want something topical I'm telling you try Bactroban ointment. It's anti inflammation and a ton of different antibiotics rolled into one. I put it on a spot and it's literally gone in the morning.

genetics and puberty is a bitch.... I had a small amount of acne when I was younger, however now at 24 years old I never get a single pimple anywhere. It's all hormones. But in the meanwhile so you wont get acne scars, take Accutane. Only thing that helps, everything else is bs.

Hop on Accutane for a year. Dry cracked lips but the clear skin will be worth.

Once you get off it skin stays clear and skin isn't as dry. Just gotta stay on it until everything clears up.

Worked for me

Pretty much just dark red spots and not many actual scars but I'm currently trying to peel the old spotty skin off with 70% glycolic acid once a week. Cause by drugs that are against forum rules to speak about. Seemed to have enlarged my oil glands long term because it took months of accutane post-cycle just to fight the pimples away.

May look into microneedling if need be later on...
