I was about to head to bed and remember the Pacquiao/Vargas fight is tonight. I hope there's an early knockout.

Was intending on getting an Aimpoint micro, but the more I looked into the MRO, I decided to take a chance on it--seemed comparable but was less expensive to get into.

I have a slight astigmatism in my right eye, so I get a little starbust/fuzz on red dots. The MRO looks pretty much the same as my Aimpoint PRO and my Vortex Strikefire. I like the wider opening on the MRO . . . gives a little wider/better field of vision. It has a little bit of a blue tint to it, but it's not bad or distracting. I haven't shot a ton with it up to this point, but it has performed well.

Alright guys, I posted a few pages ago for my first time ITT.

I'm thinking about home defense and about to buy my first real gun (my 10 year old .22 rifle doesn't count)

So, after lots of research, I think I will actually get a Glock.

What I know so far is that Glock 19 is the best and buy hollow tips for it.

1) Are there different types of Glock 19 that I should know about/aim to get?

2) Where's the best place to buy a Glock? Any deals if I buy online? Or, should I buy at my local Cabellas/locally owned gun store?

3) Buy used or new?

4) Anything else I should know?

That's similar to the kit I bought from them 3 weeks ago, it came in about 5 days, zero complaints here. From what I've been seeing on ********, it appears to only slow down if you are getting a lower from them, but that's just me passing on second hand info. Also grabbed up their ammo deals, 1k rds of PMC X-TAC and 10 magpul pmags for $400, came in about 4 days.

There are essentially two choices in the "type" of G19 to get...Generation 3 or Generation 4. For practical purposes to a right handed shooter they are identical, really...but the Gen4 is better. Okay, the Gen4 has more features and options, andmostpeople think it's better but not all. Gen4 has a different grip texture, modular grip pieces to change the size of the grip, a little different recoil spring design (you won't notice that), comes with 3 mags generally instead of the 2 mags that come with a Gen3, and generally costs $50 more (Gen3 good regular retail price is $500 at an LGS, Gen4 $550)

Just find a store that has both in stock, hold them, see which grip texture you like better, keeping mind that the Gen4 does grip better with wet, sweaty, etc hands (for most people, though some people with sensitive skin complain about carrying the GEn4 concealed against their body I don't think that is an issue at all).

You want to buy this gun and the ammo soon, like today. Call or shop around local gun stores for in stock at the above prices or close. Check grabagun, check buds gun shop. Buy new.

Buy this for defense ammo, now

http://www.sgammo.com/product/federa...le-ammo-p9hst2

But seriously with the risk of the market going weird in a few days (eeek!) now is the time to buy the gun, 1k round case of FMJ range ammo (see SGAmmo or Target Sports USA), and let's say 100-200 rounds of JHP like that HST above

Currently, you will find Gen 3 and Gen 4 19s for sale. I personally feel like Gen 4 is the way to go, though some feel that the Gen 3 is perfect.

Many online places will offer a little better deal. Someone that's recently purchased one might know of a current deal, but the links in the OP are good places to start. IDK if we have slickguns.com in there or not, but it's a search engine basically for gun deals.

Prob new. Used won't be a major price break.

You should know how to handle a pistol that doesn't have a manual safety on it and also have a plan about where you're going to keep it that your kid(s) can't get to it. Also, you might as well face the facts...it's time to shop for an AR as well.

I also see they have $5 shipping on orders of $99 or more, including ammo.

Sometimes they have good ammo prices on some things...hmm

Edit: IMI M193 at $7.19/20 (about 36 CPR) and that shipping deal is pretty good. I'm sure they have other good ammo deals if you look around

(and of course free ship to store on that ammo too as always)

Closest one to me is 2 hours away, so looks like I'll be driving 2 hours this week. Didn't see a purchase limit so picked up 4 of those stripped lowers because Hillary. If Trump gets in I'll gift a couple for Christmas presents.

Yesterday I went to Turner's to buy an AK. Ended up with the ras47 gen 2 saw some reviews on it that were good and some typical internet bashing which is standard for everything you buy these days. Today I'm thinking maybe I should roll the dros and payment onto a different AK IF THEY HAVE ONE in this case it would be the century arms N-PAP (they're virtually the same cost). The c39v2 is no longer in stock and not coming back.

What say you all knowing misc? There aren't alot of AK options here in CA right now and the choices are only getting slimmer. Only reason I'm questioning the purchase is an AK owners union video where the rife closed on a "no go" gauge admittedly I don't know what that was about cause I'm new to ak's and guns in general.

Pls aware me.

Edit:. I should also note that I'm a civilian and at the most a casual shooter, but in the event that I need to use this thing I would like it to be reliable. The accuracy seemed to be really good in all of the videos i watched which was a major selling point for me.

1. Gen IV

2. If you need it "now", go to your local gun store (LGS). If you can wait a few days, check out your LGS options and ask them what they charge for a transfer. There are a lot of good online retailers selling Glock 19s for $545 shipped:https://grabagun.com/glock-19-gen4-9...magazines.html

3. Buy new, you don't know how the other guy treated his guns.

4. See Farley's post on ammo.
