well thats even worse. i always assumed rich guys kept there money in bonds and various other investments to avoid being taxed and investigated by tax authorities, hence my claim they did not have enough cash liquid to outright buy a super car. i guess if youre wanting to hange your car every 6 months when the newer model comes out its best you lease, and if youre philthy rich, giving no fuks to collect them, you just go ahead and lease them.

i personally would stil buy them, in case chit hit the fan can always sell them and start again.

Cars to 99.9% of the population now are a mode of transport to get from A to B. Someone mentioned that car ownership will be superceeded by automated cars in the future, and I couldn't agree more. The only people who'll own cars in the future are ******* collectors like Jay Leno.

I honestly see my commuting vehicle as nothing more than a bus that I drive but without the smelly Samsbolton's sat next to me and greater flexibility.

I pay cash for my tractors as they hold their value. I pay cash for ATVs, Snowmobiles, Trailers etc.

I finance nice vehicles, and move over to a new one every 3 years when it is coming out of bumper to bumper warranty.

No regrets

If you buy a car outright for 20k and finance a car for 20k on 0% interest what's the difference except time? If interest is at 0% I don't see the harm. New economical cars ftw, got a brand new Kia Soul for 15k. Brb not worrying about what is going to go wrong with it next like you would

People who buy really old cars to save money are short sighted. One of the best benefits of owning a new car is improved safety. Crash test ratings become more difficult and new crash standards are implemented.


Google 'small overlap crash test'. Older cars can't even handle it and severely injure the occupants since they weren't designed for it. Meanwhile, a new Subaru WRX takes it like a champ.

don't worry about what other's are doing with money. If you want to help people start a service for consulting and helping people to get a good deal on financing instead of making these threads.
I just want to share the knowledge I have obtained throughout my life and hopefully change someone's life.

Is it still true that buying a reliable used car that is 2-4 years old, and driving it for 8-10 years, then repeating, is the most cost-effective approach?

i'm pretty sure this is the best/cheapest way of motoring, as long as you buy a decent marque to begin with. some nice cars for around 10k. buy relatively low mileage, decent interior with the mod cons you'd need and an efficient diesel engine.
