Awesome OP, I like the musk turtle. I catch a bunch of them when I go camping (I let them go)

I had a red corn snake that my friend breed, I got him after they hatched. I had it for 20 years before it passed.

I bred it once as well. I gave the babies to a N.Y. pet shop.

djansen I am putting one of my boas (hasn't eaten yet) in a container with a thawed mouse, how long am I suppose to give him to accept the food before letting him out?

I ordered from XYZ reptiles and they sent me a card with his info like his birth date, what days of the week he eats and under what he eats they circled LIVE instead of frozen-thawed. I cannot find live pinkies.

I see, could be difficult to get him switched over. May have to try tong feeding, might be the only way to get him to grab it.

I cannot find many places online even, local petstores normally don't see pinks. Only older ones.

Hey guys,

Any suggestions for substrate for my leopard gecko? I've been using reptile carpet, but his meal worms keep sneaking to the corner of the tank, and getting underneath the carpet. It's worse because the tank is 30 gallons, and I haven't found a single piece of carpet big enough to cover the whole floor with patching together pieces.

I tiled my leo tank. And you can still use the UTH for it it'll heat through the tile. SOme like loose substrate but I don't trust them. Sand = risk impaction. Coco bedding = risk impaction + worms crawl down into it.

If you tile, just glue them in, grout in between the cracks and you will need a temporary place to put the leo in for 24 hours while it dries.

Might get a new dog, would have to be friends with my boxers.

I'm reading a book about Pit Bulls and man, these guys got a raw deal as far as bad reputations. I used to 100% back the animal control taking them away from owners in low income coummunities, but now I see that these owners love their does and the dogs (pit bull or otherwise) love their owners. The problem is not neglect or cruelty, or well, in some cases it is, these are issues too. But the number one problem is poverty. They love them, they just... cannot afford veterinarian bills which one can say, "Ok then don't buy dogs".. Thing is though, while the dogs deserve good health, they also depend on their owners for emotional support..they don't like being ripped away from them.

Yup floor tiles. If you don't have a tile cutter (which I got one) then I believe Home Depot of Lowes can cut them to fit. I can post pics of my tile jobs in my reptile enclosures. If want and can help then lemme know.

My leopard gecko I simply uses lenolium (sp?) tiles that you can simply stick on. If you look behind my leo, you'll see a worm...and it cannot get under the substrate

Oh the gecko tank with the stick on looks perfect. I never thought of that. I am going to hit Home Depot after my vacation and pickup some of them and do this. Thanks brah!

I'm considering a Leachianus Gecko...these guys are like miniature dinosaurs. I am going to go out and interact with a few then I'll have to decide if for me. I hear they have the worst number 2's though.

They can, but I save the rodents for the snakes.

Nightcrawlers fed with tongs are the staple
Crickets thrown in make him get active a bit
the pellets but he doesn't like these too much but I try to offer them

Some not so good news updates...

My green pacman has died, and I don't know why, just found him gone this morning, old vid of him being fed minnows



Karma my chameleon has been sick, and falling and it's a 3 feet fall each time, well last week she finally passed away. And I said this cham has been my most hardest to tame least friendliest pet ever, so I am not going to replace her I won't be buying a new chameleon now, or probably ever.



the kenyan sand boa will not eat at all...has not since I got him ffs which has been months



annnd finally, the Frog eyes will not breed, they just hide and eat is all.

I need to do an updated photo shot, I got a few more.

The thing with reptiles, you gotta grab your cam, and make an entire photo session out of it. Like take 35-50 pics per animal and hope you get 1-3 good ones worth uploading/sharing. Although it's not nearly as bad as trying to take individual photos of fish from my experience. I had some feeding vids of my snakes which might not be for everyone on bb.com...seeing rodents get devoured.

Hey guys I need some help.

My Leo is impacted. I noticed on Sunday night his belly was very distended, and he had not been eating recently before that. I went through the steps to make sure his temp was good, ect. I do not have sand or loose substrate in the tank either, I have linoleum tiles. The only loose item is the moss for his humid hide.

Since Monday I've been doing the warm bath/belly massage to try and help him but no luck so far. Is there anything else I can do? How long should I expect this to take to clear? I keep worrying I'm going to find him dead when I go check on him.

Also, since I started the warm bath/rub he has not been going in his humid hide. I removed the moss (just incase he had been eating it) and put wet paper towel on the bottom of the cage. Also I've noticed he has been hanging laying in his water dish.

I appreciate any input guys, don't wanna lose my little guy.

You're doing everything right to treat impaction. If not well soon, then can't treat at home and require vet attention.

what were you feeding him?

i know meal worms can cause impaction, sometimes too many crickets and not enough greens

hopefully your little guy recovers soon

How long is too long to wait? I think tomorrow will be 4 days or so. I've been doing 2 baths a day for about 15-20 min. He no longer goes in his humid hide without the moss in it, but I was worried he was eating it because it was always all over the cage after I put it in the hide. He has just been lazily laying under the viewing light.

He has always had meal worms. Hope he's ok too
