I mean, it's ok to not like Blade Runner. I totally get that, it leaves many of my friends cold. But that wasn't the point of the question in the op. It just isn't possible, even now, to not understand why it is regarded as one of the most important and influential films of all time, and therefore a classic. You would have had to have literally never seen a sci fi film from the sixties or especially the 70s to realise what that film did to every sci fi made after.

It's actually pretty easy to understand, but much more so these days. The whole star baby thing was pretty difficult to wrap your head around, but people talk about transferring consciousness like we've already done it. Most Kubrick stuff is easy to figure out, people just make it more complicated than it is (like Eyes Wide Shut).

Everyone saying 2001, I'd say the same as I said about blade runner. I don't particularly care for it, it's pretty boring and a thin story BUT you can't possibly not think it's a classic. It was criticised for its pace when it came out, but no one was criticising the vision and spectacle. One of those films that broke new ground to carve its own place in cinema lore.

my issue is it doesn't EXPLAIN what's going on in the movie, hate that chit where u sit thru a whole movie and they don't just tell u what if fuking going on and ppl just "debate" it, it's like "modern art" where it's just a blob of paint and ppl r like "ooh u have to feel what the artist is saying blah blah blah"

also it's just slow as fuk and boring

I said amazing special effects, I appreciate that part of it, actually really enjoy watching early part of movie where dude is traveling to space station etc but then it starts to drag

The Arkham series of games blows Nolan's "CSI: Gotham" horsesh!t out of the water. No contest. Nolan just took the Batman universe and threw it together with crime thriller tropes, most of which I think he pulled from Heat. The whole DC Universe of films seems to follow that mindset - supper gritty realism! (Only there was excessive logical fallacies despite the stripping of fantasy elements. So you're trading comic book fantasy for bland, lifeless, monotonous fantasy. No thanks, breh.)

Saving Private Ryan? That one confuses me because not only was it ground breaking decades ago but its virtually unmatched decades later. That's how ahead of its time that movie was. I watched it back when it was "new and interesting," but I am dumbfounded years later as to how anyone can watch that movie and consider it overrated. To each his own. If there is anything I've learned over the years its that you can't possibly understand the future value of a movie if you were around when it was first released.
I get what you're saying, but that doesn't qualify a good movie imo. A piece of sh!t that was sh!t out ahead of it's time smells the same as a regular piece of sh!t. (Referencing Godfather, holy **** that was a terrible movie)

I got a chance to see Scarface digitally remastered in theaters... it was 10x better on the big screen. Great movie. I admittedly didn't think much of it the first time but was blown away the second. For 3 hours I was just glued to the screen... didn't feel long at all.

SOME LIKE IT HOT - Supposedly the funniest movie of the 20th century. Never really saw the humor in men dressing up in womens clothes.

NINOTCHKA - Considered one of the great classics from 1939. Thought the dialogue and acting just sucked. Never really understand the appeal of Greta Garbo anyways.

V FOR VENDETTA - Liberal version of 1984. Almost vomited when it started gushing about the "brilliance" of the Koran book. The main characters were all douches, which in turn has inspired real life douches to prance around in those stupid Guy Fawkes masks. Also made Natalie Portman shave her head while still in her HBB prime.

SCARFACE (1932 version) - This movie is actually very boring as fuk. Hardly any action, even though all the write ups on this movie single it out for being overly violent. After I watched it, I thought that maybe I was watching a censored version, but I wasn't.
