Holy fuk a thread with reality on the misc? Faith restored with truth lol.

Man was meant to work hard to survive. We dont have to anymore. You cant hate on it but people are weak now and id say maybee 5 in 100 men off the street could bench 135 clean for reps.

185? Easily. I benched 415 my first try incline at 11 years old (weighed 112 pounds). I was 6 ' 9 " back then. Had chit form and was coming off a penile injury from slaying so many HBBs with my 12 incher. So I only got 8 reps though

Size is really important in this regard. Thereโ€™s only so much strength you can build before you have to get into more advanced heavy lifting rest/training cycles.

Pretty sure I could not have benched 135lbs for even 1 rep on my first visit.
The catch is most people start out lifting when they are in their teens and are still pretty lean.

Most 200 pound guys could PROBABLY squeak out 135 once.

He only broke the world record for that age/weight class by 20 lbs. How dare you doubt him. LMAO

Threads like these sadly show how few Miscers actually lift, and how many want to exaggerate when it comes to the bench.

As an earlier poster mentioned, some people start by repping the bar itself. Apparently Zyzz did. I did, and worked up over time with 1.25kg plates. I have been properly lifting now for about 9 months, and today I benched 60kg (135lbs) for 3 reps. It's my PR, and even guys in the gym who bench multiple plates gave me a high five seeing how psyched I was.

It's funny on this forum seeing so many people live vicariously through people at your gym - what, do you think you represent your local IFBB chapter too? I went to a recent meeting here and there were absolute monsters there, both female and male. I'm just happy to lift, and be in touch with people who lift.

But please, get back to the usual Misc meme of 'lol u bench what i did when i waz 15 lol brah'.
