Ran 1200m (20lbs)
rip shins
I've never experienced that, maybe the friction made you run faster... not srs that's all you
I've gotta chill on the running. These shin splints are getting bad. It must be because I'm not used to running.

As for my cardio for the day, I was actually running really good but my dumbass tried wearing some short shorts and the friction from my thighs started hurting so I had to stop lol happy with my pace though. 2 miles in 18:37 so 9:17 a mile. My usual pace is around 10:00 a mile when I do long durations.

The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Running on soil (fields and trails) is less shock on the legs. This makes a big difference when peforming LISS for heavier indiviuals.
The the vest you are north of 200lbs, yeah?
Also are you wearing running shoes built for more support or something more minimalist with less material/cushion?
I got in 7 miles yesterday at about 200lbs on a 6'2 frame. I was already sore from two previous runs and it hurt from start to finish.
If you want to really push your cardio you will have to get really acquainted with pain and running on tired legs.
Excuse me if I sound like I am trying to school you. I am not.

I appreciate the advice, I have little experience with running.

I had a big problem with shin splints early on within the first few months. Shoe, terrain and footstrike I found remedied the problem.
I have never tried the Underarmour shoe. The running shoe I have like best if the Nike Lunarklon series. They are built for support and have more material than a shoe that is designed for more speed and sprinting.
Running on concrete and more compact surfaces helps propel you by giving back more of the energy you are putting out but this is also what causes wear and tear on your legs. Not as big of a deal for a pure runner, but those guys aren't likely ever north of 160lbs by much. If they are smaller framed they are actually quite light and won't generate the type of impact you are going to.
Running on soil absorbs more energy, meaning less shock and creating more demand from your muscles with each stride. I have found it to actually be a better leg workout (calves, hams, quqds and glutes).
Concrete in my experience at my size is a bigger workout for my joints (ankles, knees and hips) and obviously that wasn't healthy for my longterm training.
As well, field and trail running provides a dynamic terrain in terms of elevation and plane and requires dynamic footwork thay impoved my coordiation, anticipation, footwork and ankle flexability. This also keeps the mind busy and engaged and there are all.sorts of mental games you can play with yourself to create small goals and feats within any given run.
A scenic run through a wooded trail is the GOAT LISS imho. Fresh air, greenery, running water, animals and the sounds of nature. Bonus is that if you can find some.dedicated trails in your area you are rewarded for increasing your range with solitude as you will only encounter those with similar dedication.
Hope this helps!

Had a super busy week with school last week. Gonna try to get back to running 3-5x a week tomorrow. It’s supposed to rain all week but I’m seriously gonna try to get the cardio in somehow.

Back into it, slowly.
Ran a 8:35 mile (semi-sprinting) and walked for awhile. Gonna try to do something everyday for now on even if it’s not intense.

I finally bit the bullet and worked legs last week, 10 reps crippled me for days but we’re back in business
