First console was an off brand Nintendo.
Mortal Kombat 2 on Genesis was the first game that made me go “holy chit, it looks like a movie!”
MDK on PS1 blew my mind with the fully 3D massive levels gameplay.
Mario 64 was clean as fuark and definitely next gen
God of War 2 on PS2.
Gears of War on 360
Now all that impressed these days. All games look good.

N64, Tanks to Xbox, Halo CE Mind Blown
Xbox, HALO CE to Xbox 360, Witcher 2 Mind Blown
Xbox 360, Witcher 2 to PS3 Uncharted 2 Impressed
Ps3 Uncharted 2 to PC Witcher 3 Thats cool I guess
Honestly, there really isnt a lot of improvement to be had in 2d games anymore.

Gamecube ssx tricky... highly underrated game of the time. Add in smash Bros melee too.
Gamecube in general was criminally underrated.

The early videos of doom 3 (2002ish) were the most impressive leap in graphics I saw in my life .. the volumetric lightning made all the difference. At that time I sometimes had fun creating my own Quake 2 maps, so I had a little understanding of radiosity and how 3D engines rendered pre-colored and lit surfaces that were essentially static.. so when I saw the first videos of the alpha version I nearly chit bricks.
I still remember min 8:00 ... that was hella impressive at the time.

A lot of people confuse FMVs with actual in game graphics!

The original medal of honor for PC too. Storming the beaches at Normandy was insane looking.!

Every single console. Dad had Atari and intellivision and both blew my mind. NES was incredible, Sega Master System was mind blowing, Super Nintendo had depth, I still remember being mesmerized that NBA live on Genesis had numbers on their jerseys. N64 bond tournaments with the boyos after school are still my fondest memories.
The first game that I couldn't fathom was online Modern Warfare on PS3. 20 people shooting automatics simultaneously, in a lifelike 3D environment in realtime, while seeing them exactly as they were configured.
Madden 2017 on ps4 looked a whole lot different than joe Montana football on the Genesis. But Montana was equally mind blowing at the time with touch passing.
