my gf of 5 months is only in the mood for sex maybe 1-2x a month. she recently moved into my place because she said it didn't make sense for her to pay rent on her separate place when i was already paying rent on mine. we get along pretty good but my sex drive is a lot higher than hers. she has forbid me from watching porn and fapping as she thinks it's a form of cheating. but i am a man and i have needs. so usually a few times a week i'll go into the guest bedroom closet with my phone and jerk off. i have about 7 min to pop my O before she starts wondering where i am.

In a marriage, abitof decline is expected because of all the real world adult **** happening around you. Kids, bills to pay, jobs, stress of whatever, etc. I guess it could be relatively normal if sex only happened 2-3 times a week. Not ideal, but still i could work with that. You know what fuk that, i expect at least morning sex on both saturday and sunday, and at night too because fuk it we are resting, and 2 or 3 times on mon-fri. Anything less than 4x a week in the first 10 years of marriage would be unnaceptable to me.

For a girlfriend? She better be willing to take it every day multiple times a day for the honey moon phase, which in my experience they actually want that too on that stage, but after that, 6-7x a week assuming we both have the time its what i expect. If sex starts declining while she is your girlfriend, then you dun goofd.

That sounds like a living hell. Also fukin entitled bitch inviting herself to live into your place.

You can "get along" with a man too, and he will pay half his rent, and will let you masturbate as many times as you want man, and you can go out on the weekends and get that 1-2 times sex a month lmao. What are you doing with this girl, it has only been 5 months too you should be living in sexual heaven man

Not even worth the mental energy to try and turn it around. Can tell you that much. Had my girl ask me, "what do you want?", last night when I was on top of her. Might cheat on her idk yet we'll see.

Pretty much this. Same hole gets old, relationship potentially dying but most people drag it out because of routine/convenience.

A lot of broads that say they are okay with open relationships act like they are until they become insecure about some other girl you are with.

Your initial reply to me was "not everyone wants kids", and when I asked why people who don't plan on having kids would need to get married, you said "I like belonging to him". It sounds like you do want kids so I don't even know what your reply was about. Marriage = government interference btw.

I'm traditional, want kids etc. as well; my point is marriage seems redundant in the absence of kids.

I know what "not everybody" means, your reply just didn't make any sense as a response to me asking what the point of marriage is to couples who don't plan on having kids.

"It blows my mind that people feel the need to get married when they don't plan on having kids" => "Not everyone wants kids"... Exactly, so the utility of marriage should be less for these people presumably. Any city slicker can buy an F350 and drive to work 5 minutes down the road. Just because they have the right to do whatever they want isn't an answer to me asking the reason why they would want to buy a truck that isn't being put to its intended use and can be a financial burden.

Me, I have your traditional 2.4 kids and a dog

Good for you

But marriage doesn’t seem redundant for those who don’t want kids

Feel free to elaborate, but so far no one responding to my initial point has actually provided me with any rational reasons. What are the benefits if not for children? I'm not saying I'm certain that I'm right, but to me the main utility of getting married would be in creating a stable environment for raising children, as it makes it less socially acceptable to just up and leave when the relationship gets tough. Kids need both of their parents from a provider standpoint, but they also need to see what a healthy loving relationship looks like as something to emulate as they grow up.

...nor is it necessary for those who do.

Agreed. Although conventional wisdom has lasted for a reason. Look at single motherhood rates among the black community. Having the fathers stick around is a good predictor in reducing degeneracy as a youth.

I did, my kids probably will, my nephews and nieces do ...marriage is declining but it ain’t dead yet
Yup.

And we back to “belonging”

Powerful feeling... brings comfort and builds trust. Someone believes in you enough to commit their life to you, it’s mutualistic symbiosis. They make you stronger, they have your back. And with someone on your side, committed to being on your side you can deal with stuff better.

Do you have someone you rely on? Someone who has your back, someone who values you enough that they want to belong to you, and you to them. Do you trust they will always choose you.

Family is powerful, whether it’s two of you or more. Marriage for me, was intrinsic to that ...like it is for many

In sickness and in health, for better or worse...all that jazz

Agreed. I wouldn't be opposed to "marrying" someone, having a celebration where everyone knows the value the two of us place on our partnership. But in this day and age the only way to actuallyensurecommitment in marriage is for the government to guarantee it via legal repercussions should one party decide to break the marriage apart. Would you be in favour of getting government out of the business or marriage entirely?
