Doing a bit of a recomp/cut currently. Gym weight is holding steady around 250lbs and I'm slowly leaning out

6oz meat
1 cup rice
Carrots/cucumbers
4oz pure cranberry juice

6oz meat
1 cup rice
Carrots/cucumbers
4oz pure orange juice

6oz meat
1 cup rice
Carrots/cucumbers
4oz pure orange juice

6oz meat
1 cup rice
Carrots/cucumbers
4oz pure orange juice

6oz meat
1 cup rice
Spinach (this gets replaced with half a sweet potato on workout days)
4oz pure orange juice
1 whole milk yogurt

That's every day during the week. On weekends I'll combine a few meals and sub in eggs and fish for protein sources for 2 meals on both days

I'm not picking an argument with you. I'm sorry you took it that way. Your posts are confusing and vague.

That's exactly what this diet does. Its based on science, broscience and anecdotal responses from someone that coaches many advanced athletes and has a lot of personal experience

Its not always practical or prudent to rely on scientific studies. Often the people in these studies are normal people off the street. Stan is dealing with highly advanced athletes. Sometime experimental and anecdotal broscience is the best we have. Some of this stuff my not apply to normal people due to practicality but they aren't seeking or sacrificing for optimization.

For those on the actual vertical diet how long did it take before you noticed improvements from the change in diet?

The key take away I took from it was eating foods that are easy on my stomach/don't cause much bloat. That aspect was invaluable tbh.

Bumping an old thread. I had been religious following the diet from the start of this thread to 2 weeks ago. I planned on going back to a diet with much more lean meat like chicken/tuna due to having issues hitting my macros while cutting. After two weeks I can confidently say the vertical diet is superior in every way. The difference in how I've felt is astounding. More gas, uneasy stomach, fatigue faster, ect. This is eating very clean too.

I worked my food around after actually messaging Stan. Will be using 93/7 Beef instead of Sirloin to save on calories, adding in 1 egg per meal, and doing both white rice with a little sweet potatoes in my meals to keep my carbs up and save calories.

Cliffs: Diet is legit.

I did the VD for a few months, and yes, i felt good and it was easy getting my calories in. However, at my annual physical my doctor was very unhappy with my bloodwork. Maybe some people out there don't get affected by eating so much red meat, but i did. Forgot what my LDL was but it was a good amount out of range on the high side. Long story short, stopped the VD.

Whatโ€™s the opinion on replacing steak with lean ground beef?

My LDL has dropped from 136 to 106 in 6 months and I still mostly eat red meat, fwiw

I'm doing this now for my cut. I had to go to 93/7 to make it fit my calories. Stan's website offers ground beef monster mash, and he's stated its not a big deal a few times. Sirloin and Bison are always preferred though.

If you're going more than 1-2x a day your body isn't absorbing a lot of the nutrients from the food you eat.

Stan said in an interview that if you are budget limited, then ground meat is just fine.

I went pretty much right out of the VD & PP 2.0 manual.

-3 eggs, (forgot how many oz of whites), shredded chedder cheese. coffee
-greek yogurt/scoop of protein
-beef/rice
-beef/rice, scoop of some powedered greens stuff in 4oz oj, small sweet potato.
-whatever my wife made for dinner, but it would be in line with the diet.

Further to what I mentioned above, although i still go to the gym 4 to 5x a week for an hour at a time, bodybuilding/powerlifting lifestyle is not a priority for me anymore. Still trying to make all the gains I can, but diet wise, makes more sense for me to stick to something sensible i can basically stick to year round. My job makes it extremely difficult to get meals in at the right times. Can't tell you how many times I got stuck eating my mid-morning meal with lunch because I had to miss it for a meeting or something.

Basically started adding more salt to everything again with my usual diet. See how I feel.

I was actually salting my water half a year ago but my gf scared me that it was raising my bp.

Will try to increase salt for a week and check it again.

The first day I salted my water I got insane headaches, just the body adjusting to the salt content?

I got some bloating when I first started salting foods/water/using the salt Thermotabs, but it went away. Working out 6 days a week average now PPL with vertical diet and no adverse effects on BP, completely normal range.

Not sure, I had no issue with upping my salt minus some bloat initially that went away quick.

We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Haven't seen many women's takes on this diet, but giving it a trial this week to see if it works for me. Recently added a lot of volume to my lifting sessions to grow this powerlifting off-season so hopeful this helps me out

Excellent thread OP. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the update back in April.
My wife and I did it a while ago and noticed results pretty quickly. Forget why we stopped actually.
Since then we have been doing keto and IF. I always liked keto (say what you will). Anyway, I am getting close to where I want to be (nothing special, just leaner than I've ever been). Once there, I am interested in getting in some carbs to try and "fill out" without getting too fat again. VD has been going through my head again. I love ground beef and white rice. I also liked the OJ and I could literally "feel" the 4oz of cranberry juice in the mornings. I looked forward to my daily yogurt too.
Again, thanks for sharing.

Seems like it would be easy to stick to. Who the fuk doesn't love steak or ground bison with rice and lots of salt.

My only concern would be that the dietary fiber is so that long term it might be a bit of a risk for cardiac health.
