I've had a few different dogs in my life. Purebred basset, husky, and Aussie cattle dog, and a lab/Belgian mix and now the pit/possibly boxer mix (definitely not purebred but I don't know what it's mixed with). Out of all of them the husky easily was the one with the shortest temper and tendency to snap at you.

Never understood why Misc. is so against Pit Bulls. They are alpha as fuk when they need to be and will **** your **** up, the rest of the time they are big fuking cuddle pups.
We all know most dog bites are from small dogs. No reason to report a small dog bit that takes some antiseptic and a bandage though.
Pit Bulls are probably more likely to bite than most other large dogs though (except German Shephards, but only because they are police pups and its okay when police sick their dog on you).
The problem is definitely the owner. You really shouldn't leave a small child alone with any dog but you don't leave your kid alone with a pit. You double and triple check that they can't escape your house, and when walking them you get a strong grip on that leash. They are strong but only way 60/70 lbs. I don't care how strong the dog is, if you can't control a 70lb dog, you're a bitch.

Pits aren't the brightest, but easily trained to handle most commands, make fantastic guard dogs, surprisingly very good living with other dogs, typically very submissive to their people, friendly 95% of the time if trained to be so.

This. The same thing as Rottweilers. And Id say 95% of the deaths from the two groups ARE BECAUSE OF INEPT OWNERS. You have to realize these breeds are different around unknown people and know how to greet them. You come up running inside my house or back yard my rottie is def going to let me know about you and he might attack you if he feels the need to. Now if I greet you two and let him sniff you and show him you are OK, you will be OK. I don't know about pits because I never have owned the breed but rotties get lumped in with them.

I was literally walking down the sidewalk with headphones in last week. Had my duffel bag and walk past a kebab shop with a pitbull tied up to a pole at the front of it.

It randomly lunges as me as I was walking by and almost gets a hold of my arm, instead bites my duffel bag and I wrestle the pitbull but my strength ends up being to much and I free my duffel bag from its jaws. its then going ballistics at me barking, like ready to try and kill me mode.

I am overwhlemed with anger as well and had dropped my duffel bag ready and try and stomp this fukin dogs head into the concrete. The owner comes out and starts having a go at me. i almost blow a gasket my rage was that high and mentioned if this was a little kid and not a 6'3 250lb man like myself, the kid would have died and you'd have all sorts of legal issues at hand.

I have a beautiful pit who was a stray in Baltimore. We have no idea who raised her for her first 1-2 years. She can be aggressive so we take extra precautions with everything we do. I agree with both sides. It’s important to not be black and white about it because a) they are one of the most amazing breeds and have a great history in America and b) because if they do get aggressive yes they will do more damage then the average dog. I think the owner thing really comes down to irresponsible owners truthfully. I wonder what would happen if we looked at the owners of the “pits” who have been involved in attacks? I bet it would corolate closely with ****tty people. I also get annoyed by the people posting social media garbage about how they are the most harmless dogs in the world. Two extremes.

Out of the many pit owners I know, only one is intelligent. The rest are legit fukin idiots, just something about this breed that attracts lowlifes.

I’d say that pit has some issues and shouldn’t be a “ Therapy “ dog if that’s the case. If you met my pitbulls they’d be acting somewhat similar however eager to come meet you happily. Idiots who can’t control their dogs or have raised them improperly make them look bad. I was intimidated meeting them myself before, I used to believe all the bull**** hype growing up that you’d hear on the media. Still haven’t met a mean pit yet. I have however been attacked by a lab. I don’t hold anything against labs though. Any dog has the potential to be great.

today I looked at an apartment and I saw a huge pit bull . The owner couldn’t handle him. As I walk by with the manager to show me an apartment he growled at me so I kept walking. I told the manager what happened. She stopped and talked to the owner briefly and she randomly admits to letting him off leash outside her apartment to play... (illegal) and the manager just shrugged her shoulders. I looked up California knife length laws and applied for the apartment. If that thing attacks me or my cat it’s dead.

If it attacks that’s on him. It’s no longer the “sweet little didn’t do anything” dog they(the outraged) like to believe that they are.

Agree that they're a violent/aggressive breed. Of course there are going to be outliers, my cousin (who is an architect) has one who is 13-14 now. One of the sweetest, nicest dogs you'll meet. But yeah they were breed for violence and their owners are typically dirtbags.
