I know what you mean. But division is just a multiplication. The answer to the question will factually be one.

Do the operations in parenthesis
Do multiplication and division, in order from left to right
Do addition and subtraction, in order from left to right

Post your result.
If you don't get 9, congrats - you can't follow simple directions!

Lol no not factually one. If anything division being a multiplication is yet another reason to treat them as same rank with order of ops (which they are, in most systems).

It's not worth again explaining why this problem is just a problem of arbitrary definition, and how the most commonly used one leads to 9....so I'll just ask this instead.....How come Google calculator and Wolfram alpha are giving the answer of 9? They wrong brah?

the only reason some people get 1 instead of 9 is because they're fooled by the simple trick of not writing out the x between the 2 and bracket.

If it said: 6 / 2 x (1 + 2), they wouldn't be confused. They do the 2x6 first tho because they dumb

And no that is not the reason they are getting 9 because they are making some "mistake", lol. There is no mistake here, they are literally just following the defined order of operations built into their code.

No, the creators of C and Mathematica arent dumb.
He said getting 1 instead of 9, and his reason for why some people get 1 (minus the typo/mistake of 6 vs 3) is something I find to be very, very true. They see how close together the 2 and the 3 are and call it a "term" or some **** and throw the order of operations out of the window.

I actually made a picture a long time ago mocking this very phenomenon:

yea yea, you're right. just checked. Had to build a calculator using stack/trees once. But the specs said right to left, I assumed it was cause that's how programming was, but I realize its probably so students dont cheat.

I think I look good but ok.

If what you said was in jest, then fine. I don't know what you're offended over if that's the case, though. If you say something stupid as a joke, and people say it's stupid, you'd generally only be offended if it was a sincerely held belief, otherwise they're just agreeing with the intent you put out.

Your post comes off as making a distinction between intellectual and physical pursuits, as if they're opposites or inverses, incompatible or something. But they go hand-in-hand, "mens sana in corpore sano", be like an ancient Greek bro.
