Last I heard about him he and his son were asked to leave a commercial gym for removing their vests and doing impromptu posedowns, so I'm assuming he's fallen right back off the wagon.

The doc explicitly told him not to exert himself in any way until post operation. Later that very same week I saw him in the gym benching 3 plates for reps.
He died that night.

IMO no legacy is worth decades of your life spent being crippled and in pain/unable to walk. nothing but respect for Ronnie but you're insane if you think that in a few years he's not going to be wishing he could trade all that glory for a chance to spend the rest of his days pain-free.

Ever since I started SM I have been doing SSB squat (for the benefits of strongman) and man they feel amazing. I can't go too heavy on them because of it's design but also it feels amazing on the knees / hips - just everything.
Now I'm not saying that this is 100% bullet proof, but perhaps one needs to find exercises that feel natural.
I have no issues with other lifts but if I have to say anything, benching just feels natural to me - After this strongman comp (4 weeks time) I might switch to trap bar deadlift (srs) perhaps that will help with longevity.
I guess find what works for you and don't get too caught up with "if you don't do conventional you are a bitch" etc
My 2 cents.

Ask the average Joe or chick walking around outside who they know as being the most well known or even "best" bodybuilder, and I'd wager they say it's Arnold 99% of the time.

Only Ronnie can know how he truly feels about it, but I'll take the opinion of the minority here and commend him for leaving nothing on the table. He gave it absolutely 100% then some. Not many people can say they've even given 75%, hell 50%. It came back to bite him years later, but the dude is and always will be the greatest BBer of all time.

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

So much bull**** in this thread.
I know plenty of old power lifters who are fine. Look at Ed Coan the GOAT ffs.
Ronnie put his body through hell for decades in terms of training, dieting and substances and his body paid the toll.
He was still fine and mobile until the botched surgery.
He is Ronnie ****ing Coleman and you ****s sit here behind your computers hating on him. Without Ronnie bodybuilding has turned to ****.

The people who post on here (if they lift, which is questionable) won't come anywhere near Ronnie Coleman's lifts.
I hope he recovers fully. This is sad news.
