I was raised a Jehovah's Witness for the first 15 or so year of my life so, I really have no "nostalgia feels" for the holiday since I never celebrated it in the traditional sense (the tree the presents etc). I lived in California so it was never snowing. In fact I don't think i've ever had a "white Christmas day" So, the day really means nothing to me. I'm not a JW anymore, but I still don't celebrate it because It seems like a huge hassle.

and if having rugrats to celebrate christmas with is such a joyous occasion, why aren't more people happy? More often than not, your average human walking down the street has popped out a kid in some capacity (accident or not) by the time they're 30. Yet most people are hopped up on SSRI's and benzo's have road rage and stressing because they think we're approaching the "end times"

Personally I see it as a blessing. I'll be working this christmas (time plus 1/2 plus evening differential) and the week before and the week after, all I hear about in the break room is bitching about how stressed they are because they have to do ABC and stand in line for 45 minutes at 123 department store and make sure XYZ is bought before christmas and bragging about how much debt theyve accumulated.

As someone from the outside looking in (never participated in the holiday) This comes off as a sad consumerists holiday on the level of black friday. I have no idea what makes this day so special that you can't give your kids presents throughout the year. Thats what my parents did for me. I got gifts on random days of the year not predictable days like my birthday or christmas.

I knew a Jehovah's Witness kid at school. To use the American term, he was a complete douchebag. He always had this fake synthetic smile on his face even though I'm pretty sure he was unhappy and he was a bit of an ashole to a lot of foreign kids at school, including myself.

I watched a documentary recently that might explain his a$$holishness.
