This morning at 7:19 am SFPD Officers assigned to Tenderloin Station arrested Melton Earl Kelly and took him into custody on the 300 Block of Ellis St. He is being booked at San Francisco County Jail on 11 felony charges including Attempted Murder, Robbery, and Mayhem

I think it's real nice that so many miscers are secretly hand to hand combat specialists with skillsets so honed they would willingly take on multiple attackers...

I've studied American Kickboxing, Aikido (yeah, I know), Okinawan Karate, and BJJ. Fighting multiple, obviously crazy opponents is way more difficult than it sounds. For most folks it doesn't take a whole lot to get unbalanced or distracted, leaving them open from a strike, now multiply that. We're not all Jack Reacher.

While I'm not saying I definitely wouldn't have stepped in, I couldn't state that I would have either. Best option in that situation is to have others help (as many have stated), rush the attacker to shove him back out of the way to create distance and drag the other dude to safety as best as possible.

Ya anyone willing to have an all out fight to the death on the street in front of people isn’t someone you want to mess with. Half the population is female, so of the males you are gonna have young people and old people. Unless you are with a group of people you are honna have a bad time if you try to break up one of these fights.

I’ve broken up many fights at clubs and music events and people have come up to me thanking me. In these places everyone wants to have a good time so they will help out when chit is going down. And usually its not that serious, maybe a spilled drink or hitting on someone’s girl. I’m 6’ 220 lbs, I asked my gf how many of her fellow teachers it would take to subdue me and she said they wouldn’t be able to bc they would all go down with one hit. If you have an open shot then take it and try to stop the fight. If you miss and homeboy turns on you then you better run off. Your best bet is to try to distract and hope help comes quick. There was a security guard but they weren’t about that life either.
