Most "accidents" incolving child deaths are actually murders. Most cases of SIDS are women smothering their babies, also... it's really common to "lose" your autistic child while up in the woods near a lake.

While true, it's majority accidents caused by co-sleeping. Mother exhausted, brings baby into the big bed for comfort, passes out and later the baby lays face down around a pillow or blanket gets pulled over their head.

what my family members in Israel do is put their phone and wallet and stuff with the kids in the back and that way they don’t forget them. but there are also systems that detect if there’s a person in the car that are pretty cheap, idk why it’s not on every car

Use some modicum of critical thinking ffs.

You are somewhere you wouldn't normally have your kids (work for example): you are more likely to notice in a timely fashion that you don't have your wallet, cell phone, badge, whatever it is and you will be more likely to save the kids from ****ing dying when you go back to the car to get it. It makes total sense.

It is mind blowing how many people could not wrap their feeble heads around the “leave something important in the backseat” comment and extract the meaning.

Another example of an item to leave in the back would be your work badge. Can’t get in the door without it, no that doesn’t mean that a parent values their work badge more than their child.

Very sad story. I can’t imagine ever leaving children in a car, but then again I’ve had some comical brain lapses before on other things.

I can see this happening. You have no idea how exhausting caring for a small child can be. I'm paranoid as fuk when it comes to my son, and i think that's necessary to avoid this type of situation.
