I'm certainly no music buff and I don't know how else to describe it but to me it's fukin genius.
Just my opinion.

Pneuma is fast becoming a favorite for me on this album.

I have to say for myself that 'Descending' & '7empst' are my top two of the 10+ minute songs. I would've thought I would have fatigue from hearing the live version of 'Descending' so many times but the melody is great especially on the heavier riffs, the harmonizing guitars, solos, and the gong! Danny is so meticulous on the drum set though the album. I was put off initially by the opening track because it sounded like rehashed drumming, but I think its just how he incorporates electronic pads than anything else.

Fear Inoculum sounds even better on the radio. Taking me back to when there was an actual metal scene and concert-going made me feel alive.

It sounds a lot more restrained and grown up than the other albums which I like. Definitely has a 'do more with less' feel to it.
I'm pleased there has been some evolution in how they sound, the early release title track had me worried since so many sections sounded very similar to previous songs.

The only caveat is that Maynard’s voice has been used and abused for nearly 30 years, so you won’t hear him belting out lyrics in certain songs like he used to.

I guess my first listen was just to take in what it is.
Now I can appreciate it and I’ve been listening to all the songs on repeat.
Also, these started getting posted all around the downtown area here

I can't wait to see them live. I saw them 2 years ago and their concert was even better than it was when I first saw them in 1998.

Love the new album. Only gribe is that Invincible goes on for too long. Been a tool fan since my mate gave me a CD called Aenima back in the 90s.

I really like the album, but Adam Jones can only go so far with the same riffs. Tom Morello works around the same area on the guitar (open to fret 5 with Drop D tuning) and gets way more variety out of his riffs.
I don't know where Tool can go from here, you can only write so many riffs when you only use 5 notes and this album shows it. Like it's really good, but it feels very recycled.
Did anyone notice that "descending" into about 1:50 in sound almost identical to their song Push it from the TOOL salival album?
1:20 listen for about a minute of it
EgDwkSlCwHw[/yotube]
1:50
PcSoLwFisaw[/YouTbe]
They did that with a lot of their tracks man. The buildup of pneuma sounds very similar to the split between Parabol/Parabola
