That excerpt is slightly misleading in that there are far more than 10 states where the threshold for the use of lethal force is effectively the same as it is in GA/those 9 others.

Most people and most media outlets are flat out wrong in explaining what stand your ground laws are and what they do/change.

They do NOT change the threshold for use of lethal force.

They remove stupid and unintended consequence duty to retreat clauses, as in, if you are somewhere you have the legal right to be, and you are not starting **** or escalating the situation, you can stand your ground and meet the unlawful threats or force with whatever level of force the law justifies.

Sometimes they also grant immunity from civil lawsuit if you are not guilty criminally. So you justifiably harm or kill somebody in self defense, they or their family can't sue you for injuries or wrongful death.

Duty to retreat is some of the stupidest chit imaginable. If a thief comes into my house I have to run away unless I'm cornered???

I can't imagine living in a state like that. The only reason that exists is to jail lawful gun owners

I don't have time to look for it right now, but years ago there was a well known case in a lib northeast state somewhere where a woman was in her home when somebody (former male partner or something IIRC) broke in and came after her, she shot him, and literally in the court case it was argued she was supposed to climb out the window. That's some asinine UK level bull **** right there

So is it wrong to assume the shooter in this incident is black? I mean the race baiting media sure isn't quick to come out with any details.

How many guns do you own and possess?

If it's more than 3, you can just say 3.

Which one(s) do you have earmarked for home defense?

Well that was outside of Atlanta. It's certainly that it was a black neighborhood. Dekalb County has a lot of blacks there and this incident took one county over in Rockdale county.

Blacks in the South, especially Georgia, WILL shoot and own guns. It doesn't have to be black on white.

So now psychologists get to determine who can own a gun? That sounds like a great idea.

Maybe we should try to fix the mental health issues in the country.

Do you not understand the rights and laws of the US? Particularly in the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and due process? I seriously start to question our US education system as this is something that should have been taught in Jr. High.

What qualifies a physician to strip you of your rights that are supposed to be protected by the laws in the USA? A rando simply cannot deny one their due process, especially by someone that has no legal authority to do so.

Damn that sucks.

My bro and his friends robbed a house when they were in their teens. They held the mother and son hostage to take all of the jewelery. Bro shot into the air and the bullet ricochet into the sons arm, lol. I think my bro got like 2 years in prison.

So ya, teens are stupid. If someone robbed me, take it all bb. I don't think I can live with killinz someone.

I remember being a teen, and having a lot of friends who were teens, and a lot of us doing a lot of very stupid ****.

None of us were nearly retarded enough to consider armed robbery or home invasion or residential burglary. Because, even as stupid as **** teens, we knew that was how you got shot. Or beat with a bat. Or stabbed. Or eaten by a dog.

But... but... but he's suggesting "common sense gun laws". It's irrelevant that the feelings and emotions he has that give him such a strong view of commons sense completely strips away the Federal Constitutional Rights of all citizens. But that's okay... because kommon sense.

Then explain to a dumb Canadian how anyone can limit firearms at all in the USA. Registering parts of firearms, background checks, and gun free zones...lots of people there seem to want to limit your 1st amendment rights, and are doing so. What he is suggesting doesn't sound so crazy when you see the way your right to bear arms is already being infringed. I think you guys have lost a ton of ground already on this. Pretty soon you will be like us Canadians if you don't get some politicians with backbone to stand up to the liberal nuts. I had to go through a song and dance to get my handgun license here. Your culture is far too different to have what we have here. Leave only the criminals with guns in the USA, and watch crime skyrocket.

Without seeing if the story has been updated since OP and without reading past first half of first page the way the story sounded it almost seemed like some hoodlums tried to rob a drug dealer or something. They rolled up and fired their gun a few times to show them they were serious then someone at the house proceeded to shoot tf outta the 3 teens.

So you're telling me 3 human beings with masks on came onto another human beings property attempting to rob the house, and the human being that owns the property fired back in self defense.

Sounds logical to me. See what I did there? If we did that there would be no news.

We get it, they were going to rob this person because of the injustice they experienced.

Also, nothing psychotic about it, because nothing of value was lost.
