I can understand being protective but this is a bit much. Shes going to sloot to no end or be so afraid of intimacy shes going to need therapy to fix it. It makes no sense to let your son free reign but protect your daughter from the type of guy your son is turning into. Him and the brother should be examples of what she should be looking for.

Also, no the clothes are not appropriate for a younger woman. You can have that much of a stranglehold on her life but then turn around and let her dress like that.

Oh and I have a daughter.

I don't think you're naive necessarily but I think you see or want to see the good parts of religion. Yeah I meant the possessions things and especially for daughters. From what I've read he thinks it's fine for his son to be a man whore but her exercising autonomy over her own body is a step too far. I grew up when purity culture and True Love Waits was a big thing at my church. Girls would have to go to those purity balls with their dads then they got a ring to wear and had to pledge their virginity to daddy then when on her wedding day dad would transfer the true love waits ring to the husband. It's all about ownership with these people.

The son is growing up in a very ego competitive environment. Hes around rich and famous people all the time and see the attention they get. Obviously he is developing his own ego and seeks attention and developing his identity.

When people experiment with identities they tend to do bold things that attract attention.

Hes just trying to be "loud" to stand out and express himself.

I dont think its a contradiction if the bottom line is he just wants whats best for his son or daughter. both are two separate journeys.

A boy needs to develop his ego and feel confident from early on, so he lets him develop his "alpha" side.

A girl needs to develop self worth and value from early, and to protect their value from pre mature "rape" of their worth - before they realize the value of it and what they want to do with it in life. Sex is more of a rape to women than men, the trauma of not getting it back, the stigma of future partners, the idea of "was he the right one" and so on and so forth.

obviously a guy being a virgin is laughable and a woman being a virgin is a special treasure. Its also gonna influence them as a social norm and them being the norm or outside of it makes them have anxiety about it or not.

So they develop healthy egos and maturity in two separate ways, but the goal is the same, wanting whats best for them, weather they know it yet or not.

I agree about society being corruptive and the promise ring stuff. They did that at my church as well.

Having your daughters hymen checked is too extreme and there is no argument that will convince me otherwise. I'm open to suggestion but that one crosses so many boundaries that it is likely to do more harm than good to the girl. Your goal as parents should not be to raise "good child" it should be raise a child to grow into a respectable and independent adult.

The only IG pages I look at are either gun or car related so I haven't seen hers. If she really did post that then good for her. Her clothing in the pics posted in this thread are a little more racy than I would be comfortable with if I was her father.
