i once bought hella cheap chinese made "Nankang" tires despite dozens of posts online hating on the company. drove on em for a year and they were perfectly fine.

You only get a blow out if you let your tires get bad enough to the point of blowout. They don't just simply blow up like that. But they blow up for the following:

-Overinflation
-Underinflation
-Old tires
-damaged tires(from running flat)

If your tire is overinflated and you hit a bump, it may blow.
If your tire is underinflated, it blows because the tire heats. What happens then is that the rubber and metal mesh comes apart due to heat.
Another way it blows is that you didn't repair the tire properly when it got the flat. The area where the nail hit has become weak over time and gives out.
Or you drove on the tire while it was flat. The sidewalls of the tires got crushed while it was flat which compromises the entire tire.

You will commonly see 16 wheelers get a blowout because they have 16 wheels to check. People don't even check 4 tires let alone 16. These trucks are under a lot of load too. And with 16 tires vs 4, you have 12x more chances of hitting a nail, not including the larger width of semi tires.



Its not safe. You can drive on it for a short time but the area where the nail hit is compromised. The damage will spread out from this area and eventually the tire will fail. Air will continue to leak from this puncture. Water will enter and corrode the metal parts of your rims and tires. And as you drive, the tire will be constantly underinflated, which causes uneven wear, which also cause heat build up, which will then ultimately end in a blowout.



That is why you should get that cheapest tire for a DD. Tires go through a major amount of damage in a short amount of time. You just need 3-5 years out of a tire. The cheapest tires can and will stand up to the beating of 3-5 years of driving, or 40k miles.

TUNA 2020
Always @80psi @ 50% 11k (tools truck) , 50% 14-20k (debris) ,15k gvwr.
They just didn't holdup compared to current tires,dont even squat anymore as they're rated @4k compared to 3k on 10 plys.
Not going to buy any knockoff to catch another blowout in working truck but do agree with dd and 50-60 % load you might be ok for awhile in regular car.

One thing Ive noticed about cheap tires though, they seem to get dirty really easy. Meaning they lose that new black look. But idk since I can't compare it to $1k tires.

how much do I need to worry about the tires on my truck. srs.

they are almost 7 years old. I know they need to be replaced but like... how soon?

Dude knows jack about tires. He works at Pep boys or something. There's a lot of science behind tire formulation and he is clueless.

I would replace those in the next 3-4 months due to the cracking between the tread depending on how much driving you do

I believe they are a subsidiary of a larger brand like Toyo or whatnot. Nankang actually released a 200tw track tire that is getting good reviews

I'm only good with summer/track tires since that's my focus. I have Duelers on my F150 and they work fine

Tires should be replaced every 5-6 years.

New cheap tires is good insurance for if anything is to happen while you are driving, especially important when you are talking about semis and trucks because they carry more weight.

You has more control over an accident but no control when ur tire blows out and you plow into that minivan full of kids.

^happens everyday. You can always find blown out tires on the road, bb.

Whatever OP says, do the exact opposite. Performance tires last between 10k-20k depending on how you're driving. And if you're actually tracking them, they'll last 1/10th of that.
