Alot of people who judge have no idea what it takes to care for someone with autism, it's a horrific illness. But the fact they didn't last long gives credence the the suspicion that they were either seeking youtube fame or weren't educated and prepared to deal with an autistic child.

I've seen parents tap out on their own autistic kids. You can only handle so much. What else are you supposed to do if you're at work and your adult autistic son is destroying the house and causing self harm.

sent this shiit to my wife, we are in total disbelief. we both of us thought at least one, maybe both parents had to be crackheads to put your kids up for adoption- like some type of defensibly bad situation or economic distress?

I don’t know what to think honestly.

I don’t think you know til you’re in that situation. I have seen kids with low functioning versions of autism. Ones that would scream and not stop screaming, keep repeating a phrase over and over, literally scream til they can’t anymore. First i’m not going to judge someone who can’t handle that.

Second I knew a guy with Aspergers very, very well. We were friends for 10+ years, lived together at times. It became obvious at some point that his parents paid for everything even though he was 40 and that he had been in special ed classes. Most days the worst thing he would do is if you were having a social gathering he would insist we have to do only the activities/games he was familiar with. If we didnt he would throw a temper tantrum. The worst thing he did was he would grope and fuk other peoples wives and girlfriends. There was something really wrong with him. He would make unwanted sexual advances - attempt to touch a womans breasts or privates when her husband was in the next room. He had sex with old wives sometimes im talking 65 year olds just chit that wasnt logical. I actually went on an autism forum and asked them whats the deal with the inappropriate groping and all the autistic people refused to acknowledge a link.

Anyway as soon as I heard they have other kids in my mind i said i get it. I’ll put up with a lot of chit. The scenario changes if the behavior is affecting my other kids happiness.

That is actually one of the reasons that I don’t want kids. I know I could not handle an autistic or other severe special needs kid.
Some of them I'd say aren't even living a life, they're just existing. It's pretty damn sad.

I took care of a guy who was conserved and he was a major challenge even though he was verbal and could interact pretty well. He'd get overwhelmed at the simplest of prompts and you can't help but get frustrated about it because it's completely irrational to someone without mental illness.
