-Change burden from "reasonable expectation the officer's life is in danger" to "has exhausted all other alternatives". Getting actively shot at? Gotta try pepper spray first, THEN a verbal warning, THEN your gun.

-Require police to report anytime their gun is drawn from the holster. Know the guy ahead of you is driving a stolen vehicle and confirmed armed? It's gonna be four hours of paperwork if you do a traditional felony stop.

I truly had been hoping for some useful ideas. This isn't it.
NAACP's ideas were better. The crux of the issue is bad training which they actually touched on. This is pretty dumb.

Cops love bodycams.

Aclu and naacp hate them now. Now someone makes a complaint "he only arrested me cause he is rasis!" review bodycam and the guy was drunk and smashes his car into a wall and had a bunch drugs everywhere.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

If justice is what they want, if being held accountable is what they want, which if what you're saying is true seems like they don't, then bodycams are the only real answer. It's the only way to see what really took place and hold anyone accountable. If tells if a cop is using excessive force, too. I don't get their complaint.

And for black people, they need to change their culture and stop committing 65-70% of the overall crime in this country despite being only 13% of the overall population. Segregation ended something like 60 years ago, slavery ended roughly 150 years ago, we've had a black president, they are not currently oppressed in society (they have better opportunities at universities than the smartest asians out there), and they cause their own stereotypes.

Easy to make these rules, when you've never been in the line of duty and fear for your life. Most cops are just trying to go home at the end of the day, alive...

These sheep have no idea, how much disrespect and retarded people are on a regular basis for a cop top treat people softly.

Number one and number three are pretty much standard practice anyway where I'm from. Which is why our cops don't draw a weapon unless they absolutely have to.

How about a simple one: if you have complaints against an officer, actually investigate them and punish the officer, and it's a three strikes you're out rule. The guy who killed Floyd had 18 active complaints against him, and another of the four had 6. It's ridiculous they were even still in uniform.

Also, and this would be impossible because of the union, but if a cop is suspended due to misuse of force its' done without pay automatically. If you hit them in the paycheque cops might think twice about hurting another person.

Yep. I already posted this but the three big things IMO that will improve things for everyone is

1. Bodycams - good for police and for civilians. Has to be on for every interaction.

2. Federal oversight committee - cant be police policing police. Looks over incidents like this and prevents bad cops from moving to another state.

3. Crimanal justice reform - stop putting people in jail for nonviolent crimes and having them become violent. Stop being driven by money and encouraged to impose stupid fines and rules.

These are big factors for sure. The problem is that being a police officer is not a glorious career, and doesn't pay crap for the bullchit you have to put up with. A large % of people with high intelligence are going to pursue a more lucrative and safer career. Not to mention the general roll of an officer is attractive to guys who have that "power trip" personality. (Think captain of the football team/class bully who graduates high school and realizes his tour is over now)

Police departments just aren't getting enough quality candidates really.

wtf does that matter? You think that because cops have to deal with lowlifes that it justifies using excessive or unnecessary deadly force? I understand having to make a split second decision to shoot or not. But videos showing cops shooting unarmed people who aren't moving towards them or running the other way still exist. They aren't above the laws they have to enforce.

That was my suggestion. Bodycams and squad car cams on at all times. Apply AI that can notify of types of behavior that need closer inspection real time.

A sort of policing of the police if you will.

For sure. Bodycams and an oversight committee is the way to go. Cameras are so cheap nowadays it would only be like 50$ per cop and many already have bodycams. It's good for both sides too. Cameras have no bias.

how many of these situations actually exist though?
do we even know if this minnesota police officer killed the guy by kneeing his neck? maybe he was just resting and his weight was distributed towards the other leg and he was balancing it backwards...also george floyd could've been yelling anything... he couldve been screaming "IM THE KING OF ENGLAND"...the fact is that he had multiple drugs in his system and he could've been acting out against the police. he has a very dangerous history as well....we just don't know..

C'mon man. What kind of mental gymnastics is this? You literally see him dying in the video.
Also the video shows Chauvin with his right heel up, anyone who's done any form of combat training knows that his weight is on his left knee.

Okay. What about when an officer of 20 years doesn't follow protocol? Who even gets told repeatedly by a guy who's 3 days into the job what to do and ignores it.
