The real take away from this thread is that every country sucked at some point. We should focus on the present instead of obsessing on the past and strongly condemn countries that still perform atrocities.

US Generals knew that Japanese soldiers would never surrender. They would charge at machine gun nests with only swords and do whatever it took to die with honor. Those who returned home alive were shunned by their own country, this is why so many Japanese military leaders committed Seppuku rather than surrender or return home.

The Americans hated the Japs from basic training where the army made videos of the enemy as subhuman apes so that soldiers would slaughter them without feeling. Those who landed in the South Pacific would experience just how vicious the Japanese could be in battle and matched his ferocity. Marines in Okinawa and Pelilu routinely collected trophies of dead Japanese soldiers (mummified hands/shrunken heads etc).

I've been to Taiwan multiple times. They're extremely pro Japan and anti China. The elderly speak Japanese so we had a great time talking together about how chit of a country China is and how Japan made their country better.

Stick to countries you're familiar with next time you come up with an online persona.
