This argument I never understood. Just because in certain countries divorce laws are ludicrous shouldn‘t mean you have to hand over all your financial assets to your spouse or otherwise marriage isn‘t for you.

As a guy or even women this shouldn't be a big problem. When a guy or girl uses the excuse" But you don't trust this relationship" or anything pertaining to that when bringing up prenup and you fall for it, you know that person will always have the power because if things goes south she or he will be able to gain the most from a divorce while the other suffers. Marriage is suppose to be about love and if it doesn't work out then be it, however the financial burden on the breadwinner if things don't work out just seems like non sense and isn't something i'll ever sign up for.

I agree 100%. But how does anything in your post require handing over your assets? With this logic, if you want to assure you will never divorce, hire someone to kill both of you in that case. I‘m pretty sure you‘ll be able to work through all issues.

But srs, why is the person concerned about their assets in case of a divorce less prepared for a marriage than the person who feels entiteled to the other one‘s assets?

And it’s the concept of planning for the failure of something that I am committing to for the rest of my life.

If I felt that unsure I simply wouldn’t have married. It’s that simple.

I do not need to protect me and mine from the person I am pledging to stick with through thick and thin
I understand your argument but you can‘t prevent the planning for failure. This plan exists by default. In some countries, unfortunately this default turns a love marriage into a financial transaction.

Or to put it in another way, would you marry if you would be killed by default if you got divorced or would you sign a contract to prevent that? Shouldn‘t need to sign if you are so sure.

So would you sign the contract to prevent your execution?

Not sure I can make it clearer

You either choose to commit for life

Or you don’t

No hedging your bets
Everybody would sign a contract to not get killed in case of a divorce. I think you‘re alone on this one. But I admire your consistency.

It's funny how miscers are so concerned about their "assets" when most drive a leased 3 series bmw, are neck deep in student loans, and living in coffin apartments in a downtown metro area, spending the rest of their cash on sloths and bar tabs. Highly doubt the girl you would potentially marry is out for your "money". Just another delusional mindset keeping most of the misc in a forever 21 state of mind, while the rest of us live our lives as properly functioning adults. Id be willing to bet that married miscers as a whole have a much larger net worth than the paranoid forever single crowd.

some people's lives change when they get married and they want to do other shiet with their time. i bet you half of these "whipped" guys are just telling you they're whipped. in reality they don't want to awkwardly explain to you that their interests have changed.

I‘m not asking anything, the bet is already there. The question is only if you accept the default conditions of the bet as randomly defined by the current jurisdiction of the country you happen to live in. If your faith dictates that, OK.

It’s not innocuous
In my country, I would have to sign a prenupnotto have separation of goods in case of divorce. So I wouldhaveto make plans for failure just to get to how marriage is legally defined in your country.

Married at 28, even after 33 years my wife is still deeply in love with me.
Of course, sometimes we have arguments but never a serious one.
