honestly, Melvin Capital is dead.

All their investors will be trying to pull their money as a soon as possible.

All their options are in the money and expire this Friday.

The amount of money they lose by then could be staggering.

They've been one of the most successful hedge funds of recent years from what I've read, they had like +41% returns in 2017 and +30% returns in 2019 iirc

I'd sooner believe hedge funds will band together to take these guys to school

I feel like the ability to execute on malicious intent could lead to something. WSBers are all over the internet gloating about the damage they can do to funds / individuals (especially boomers)

I'm still learning and joined the stock market early this month and I'm up 74.99% on GME. Since Friday.

I initially bought airlines & coach companies before I came across WSB. Looks like I joined at a good time lol. The amount of sht i've learned in a short time is incredible, feels like I've wasted time on books and should've took action a long time ago

also
+50.32% PLTR
+33.62% BB

I'm prepared to lose the money, the entertainment alone was worth it. Reminds me of old misc but with £££ benefits.

Also some real good people in wsb, saw some guy made enough money for IVF, others to pay parents rent etc. Makes a change from suits buying their 3rd supercar

Yeah, but as soon as you cross the threshold between free speech, and intentionally trying to decieve other market participants, that's when the SEC will come knocking.

There are astute differences between me posting a screenshot of my portfolio, and then posting a screenshot of my portfolio with the header "ayyy lmao, if you ain't buying AWEIR stock right now, are you even trying"

Lol at all the scare tactics they using on the news and social media, even on 4chan they have spent billions trying to spread bs. "Nooooo goyim you wern't supposed to make money like we do" sums up this entire thing.

That’s literally free speech lmao

Nothing will happen to anyone and nothing CAN happen to anyone. You got to prove you legit orchestrated a scheme. You’re also not going to arrest millions of people lol

Also they’re not going to arrest millions of people lmao even if they could prove anything

Lmao

“Can’t ban free speech” where have you been the last year? Or did you forget the part where big tech de platformed a sitting president.

And when has something being legal stopped the establishment stepping in making it illegal lmao. If more people catch on and hedge funds start to take a serious L expect swift action.

lol ive been in gme since 10$.. there are two main factors driving this chit

1. Ryan Cohen n his co from Chewy/Nintendo days - they genuinely want to take over GME (RC bought 10+% stake in the company when it was sub $10) and turn their business around, they even wrote a F U letter to the current board
2. short squeeze - if anyone broke any rules its the hedge funds, they borrowed more shares than the available float (100+%) and now in deep ****.. for every 10$ increase in GME they are losing $1B.. they are ****ed but we know they will be getting another bailout by their pals (they had a $2.7b bailout on Monday)

In nov/dec the focus has been on how RC could turn the business around thus driving the price higher (organically).. but the potential gigantic short squeeze starts getting more attention and this drove the masses to buy the stocks (ignoring business fundamentals) and ridiculous call options.. fundamentally short squeezing is also a legal strategy and we have seen it happened in the past with VW and TSLA. .. im planning to sell half my stake at 300-400 and leave the rest to see where it goes

They post their intentions on a public message board.

I'll say it again: The hedge fund could've written a bunch of call options. Hell, they could've just bought call options.

Haha what? How would writing calls help them? Do you know what you're saying? Have you ever written a call option? I've "written" thousands fyi. I don't understand how "they could've written call options" has symmetrical payoffs to "hell, they could've just bought call options".

The audacity of these investors who made $300 trading to tell the pros how it's done. I swear.

Because there's no justification. You realize these HF's have monthly/quarterlies to send out to investors right? You think those investors want their PM to be that indecisive on his judgement? Imagine sitting across a dinner table with Justin Timberlake, and you tell him that you're one of the smartest investors in the world, but that, you're really so much of a shmuck that after your completely thorough investment analysis you like to give up and change your mind... You'd never get a single million invested. Dude, there isn't a single time tested and statistically significant valuation model you can throw out there to say that this stock is worth this much.

Again, I don't know what else to tell you, but my money is on Wall Street skinning all of these shmucks alive. Although, equity markets in general are already frothing at the mouth, I'm not denying that. However, I would be that this doesn't last for long.

I dunno, if I had a bunch of put options or a short position on a stock I'd be checking the market activity like a hawk.
