Just watched it again and man that strike was something else. Regardless of how you feel about it, for an animal that massive to be able to sneak silently within striking distance and then at exactly right moment launch itself out of the water with that much force and precision is impressive af.

Related note, my neighbor was eaten by an alligator a few years ago fighting to save her dog. She was walking it at her winter house and didn't know there were gators in the ravine next to the foot path.

I've seen that video before. Might have been posted on misc, actually.

I get that nature is brutal. I'm not the type to think things like live feeding feeder insects/fish to pets that require them is wrong, as long as the pet owner isn't getting some sort of sick pleasure out of watching it happen and the dying process is fairly quick for said feeder insects/fish/etc.

However, stuff like this is just messed up. There's definitely something wrong with someone who takes pleasure in baiting an animal into a brutal, painful, loud, and somewhat drawn out death at the hands of a predator animal. I'm just saying, if the guy who baited the hogs is a legit piece of chit. There should always be some sort of practical purpose behind the slaughter of any animal. People who do that crap purely for entertainment clearly have some degree of psychopathy about their personalities.

As for the boar making its choice, I think it stopped being a choice when it was manipulated by humans. If there was just a random piece of food that floated by and it went for it, then, yeah, that could be understood as its choice.

I think most people itt are missing the point that the exact same fate awaited one of those hogs regardless if there was someone there to bait it or not. Only difference being it wouldn't be caught on video.

That gator was there for a reason just as those hogs were (water). That was it's hunting/ambush spot.

There is a huge difference between what happens in nature and what humans cause. If this gator caught the hog in the wild while having a drink of water or something THAT would be part of nature. But once a human steps in and baits the hog in order for something to happen then it is no longer the same and it is purely for the pleasure of this particular person. In nature animals have to rely on their own skills and senses to get their next meal, they don't just rely on humans to bring them their next meal like DOMESTICATED dogs do. The other thing to bear in mind is that if everyone went around doing this, the balance of nature would be thrown off. Most predator's hunts end in failure. If this kind of thing became the norm, there would be a huge increase in the number of gators swimming around.

Not at all. That gator's a top of the chain predator in it's environment. It didn't get to be that size by needing humans to help it feed. It would've just as easily taken another one of those hogs when it was meal time. Again only difference being nobody there to capture it on camera.

Setting aside the moral quandary of the situation, the net difference to the pig population is zero and those people witnessed first hand the raw power of a perfectly evolved killing machine. Some of them were clearly shook by it and some were no doubt left awe inspired by it. Either way it'll be an experience none of them will ever forget.
