I think there’s something to looking back at a period of time with some rose tinted glasses even if it was a ****ty period of time. I know for me, I can look back at some periods of life where I was just partying and drinking and I remember it being fun, but when recalling those memories you know what doesn’t come up? The hangovers, the idleness in life, superficial friendships, the mental hangovers of anxiety and depression that would last for days. I have to intentionally make sure that I’m painting the whole story when looking back at those periods. There’s some good in those memories I’m sure, but try to make sure that you’re keeping an objective picture when looking back.
