Not true at all. Pointing a camera or a gun requires about the same skill level. Cleaning and butchering the kill, transporting the meat out without spoiling, skinning and tanning the hide, keeping transporting mounting "trophy" parts, preparing and cooking the meat, all those are additional complications that require more knowledge and ability.

There's hunting for survival and there is hunting for sport, If a person is hunting because it's their means of getting meat then I have no issue with it but if they are hunting just to kill animals then that is barbaric.

i disagree about pointing a camera vs gun is hardly equal. The gun has a much much smaller target and a bigger consequence of a bad shot

must be a sad existence spending your life working hard to impress other people VS just relxing, enjoying energy drinks and donuts and pizza and playing your favorite games having a blast with no care in the world
I still play video games. Gran Turismo, Tekken, Yakuza. But the obsessive “I have to get every achievement” or “ I have to beat this dark souls on extra hard mode” is goofy. Playing obsessively for more than 4hrs is goofy too.

And yeah achieving things in real life and getting recognition of doing so from peers is way more gratifying and meaningful than unlocking a digital item in a game

I find it way to common that most gamers game just because they have nothing else better to do. They don’t have passions or hobbies and they don’t even like gaming all that much.

Golf for sure.

I love playing, but its like putt-putt. I don't spend countless hours practicing my putt-putt, researching clubs, getting custom fitted, watching putt-put tourneys, following the best putt-putters, spend the whole fookin week practicing / weekend playing - I just show up to the course when I have an itch to play, take a few warm-up swings and have fun hanging out on the course with friends / family.

People like Samsbolton are the epitome of what I am talking about. Bragging about his game online, measuring their launch angles and speed like it matters. You can either hit the ball or your cant, youre either on the fairway or youre not, you're either on the green or youre not.

Very true - but:
Most people are too afraid to test themselves. They know they are mediocre, and its easier to root for someone else than put in the time and effort only to suffer the agony of defeat themselves.

brb can't just sit anywhere in the woods, you have to actually scout the location: bedding areas, game trails, scrapes, droppings, watering holes
brb can't be seen, but need a clear shot within range of where your scouting has determined they'll walk (especially in archery)

i mean 6 hours per day is a pretty fuking extreme example. if youre an adult with a full time job and responsibilities then you dont even have 6 hours so i think what you must be saying is someone without a job rotting in their parents basement, which is something totally different.

i usually get about 30 mins, hour tops per typical day and i have 3 kids. when you have 3 kids you NEED something brainless to escape to for a bit. but i also do things like painting miniatures and playing DnD as hobbies, which is aside from house projects that i wouldnt consider a “hobby”

You went from talking about trophy hunting to hunting for food.

I would not take pictures of food at the supermarket.

I have loved videogames since I was a kid.

I play them like I watch a movie which is for an hour or two.

If a person is spending their day playing games on most days of the week, it's just like too much of anything else. So, it's not the hobby but the amount of time spent on it.

Gaming.

You're putting all this effort to get good at something that's absolutely useless, when you could be putting that energy to real life.

Yes, it’s more about the time spent than the activity itself, unless money is being made from it. I don’t understand why some of these guys who love video games don’t try to design their own game, and make money from it.

I'm a pretty good painter.

In my 20s I used to do large surrealistic paintings and compete in contests. Then, due to work I gave it up.

A few years ago, I realized that all I did was work and I would play games, watch movies, go out, etc. So, I was always consuming the work of others and not doing my artwork.

So, I started painting again and have not been playing games that much. I also paint with the TV on and listen instead of watch while I paint.

It's important to work on projects that you do if you have any kind of interest.
