No he's right. Even you with your upper class constant traveling and chad shenanigans seem so lonely. It just seems such a meaningless life not to be there for someone. I don't know if it's codependency or what, love feels safe and just like you're on heroin instead of meth but it's much better. I dunno if kids would make it better though.

And no you shouldn't buy an expensive ring cos eventually the handymen will steal it from your house.

Lol What’s wrong with enjoying mowing the lawn? Suddenly responsibility is a bad thing. What a goofball

Zero, she already has Zlatan.

Seriously you simps are idiots for believing some X% rule of income. Imaginary things made up by a bs industry. I don't believe in expensive diamond engagement rings or expensive weddings.

Actually, I don't believe in marriage at all. I believe in staying aesthetic AF, keeping 2-3 fun attractive younger women around, and keeping them in rotation.

Jesus if I spent 3 month salary on an engagement ring I'd be purchasing a 100k ring. F*ck that.

These rings

Don't even look any different than these rings

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I have disposable income so I went with the national average of 5k

That said, I proposed with a $200 (Two hundred) ring and when she said yes we shopped for the real one together

It's meant to be an investment in your relationship. It's to keep you tethered in so it's meant to cost you an amount that would be painful to go to waste. So whatever that is, usually 2-3 months.

I spent a lot, but my wife would have been happy with just about anything. She did enjoy the comments from friends and family.

Sounds like you are in a similar position?

If I could have my time again, I would consider man-made or perhaps a non-diamond centre stone (like a sapphire) with smaller diamonds around. Not for cost reasons, but there are a lot of ethical issues with diamonds and the market is heavily manipulated.

Engagement ring? My man dont even think about that unless you are a high value man srs, yeah i know the misc doesnt like that term but im serious, marriage isnt for the average guy nowadays.

Either way, if i did marry, it would be with a woman that doesnt expect me to buy her an expensive ring nor she would value me more or less for it. Therefore, i would buy her something expensive because i know that even if she didnt really expected it or needed it, it would still make her happy. Nothing over the top, not trying to to make her a target for the cartel or anything, but she would love it for sure.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

But I can understand getting a ring just to enjoy the look of it, but it should be a casual spontaneous thing, it’s really disgusting to have a requirement or a tradition for a man to spend a certain amount of money on a specific item for a woman, it’s a disgusting made up fake tradition, Made by corporate scum in order to profit, having absolutely nothing to do with love, marriage, or anything else.

I would spend the amount of money that makes financial sense given the monetary situation you are in. The diamond industry is a scam anyways. The amount of money you spend on a ring means fuk all in any way for how much you love someone. It is just a representation of marriage.

Either way my boss has a contact for a wholesaler and everyone from my work that has gotten a ring from them has paid maybe 5k for a ring that gets appraised at double or over what they paid. Not even sure how that works but it has every time. Even further cemented how much of a scam the industry is.

Because there is absolutely no woman you can trust in the world 100% besides your mom.

Of course if I ever asked someone it would be genuine and with the best intention. But you seriously would never truly know. Some women would legit get visibly upset with a modest ring.

Couldn't I just flip that script and say if a woman actually loved and wanted to be with me then the value of a piece of jewelry should never affect that in the slightest?

My favorite gifts from exes were cheap cute creative cards/photo albums etc they would spend some kind of effort to make for me. I would hope by the time I'm about to propose that we would have both demonstrated that kind of effort and love many times to each other.

I'm not an expert but I'd say it should be 5-10% of your yearly take home salary.

A big problem with the wedding industry/marriage is for a lot of people, its more about throwing a fancy party and blowing money as a 'look at me' then anything else.

I know people that spend 10K on a ring and another 50-60K on a wedding/celebration and maybe another 5-10k on the honeymoon. Middle class people starting out a marriage and starting a life together by pissing away 60-75K.

Statistically speaking the marriage stands as good a chance as failing as succeeding. Not only is that money wasted but it also sets you back dramatically for your life (either together or if you split).

Someone asked Dave Ramsey this question in a call in and he said go with the cheaper ring and 10 years or so into the marriage 'upgrade' her ring if its so important. Makes sense to me. If the marriage lasts 5-10 years upgrade the ring when you're financially sound.

It’s reasonable to infer that the guy will also be miserly in the marriage and will hesitate to spend resources on his wife and future children. So yes it matters a lot.
Expensive jewelry and a big rock is not 'providing' for anyone. Its a status symbol. If you are poor or are struggling financially you do not have any status, thus any expensive jewelry is a lie and a misrepresentation of your financial status.

If the wife gets a big rock the husband might as well buy a blinged out Rapper esqu. chain to wear around his neck for the lulz.

Some people can probably be alone and happy but I think I'd be a totally different person if I had been alone all these years. I think I am healthier and even cortisol levels are down because I never have to worry about anything. It's just such a relaxing place to be, like being tucked in a warm blanket. Before I got married, the level of loneliness was already debilitating even though I was young. I don't want to experience that when I'm old. But I don't think I'm codependent. I could take it, I just don't want to.

I spent exactly $350 in the early 2000s on a third carat stone. Probably over a grand these days but it works if you work it and/or not marrying a cnt.
