We're not talking about being a cashier you dense little 3rd world man..We're talking about being a BARISTAwhich covers being a Cashier, Drive Thru Window, Front Register, or Bar operator.

Realistically a fully staffed floor involves 6-7 Baristas.

A Barista is a general term to describe anyone who works Register, Drive Thru, Hot Bar, Cold Bar, and Store support. Are you getting it now you dense phuckaroonie???

One of us has experience working in this environment and the other doesn't. Can you guess who has zero clue what they're talking about?
You're not helping yourself here. I did all that at McDonalds, except instead of a "bar", there was a flat top and deep fryer. It was not hard. IDK who it is you're trying to fool, but you need to stop playing games. Dunkin Donuts is a much bigger operation than Starbucks, they bake all their pastries fresh each day, and no one has a meltdown about it. If brewing subpar coffee is you definition of a hard job, you're not gonna make it in IT.

So you're going to use another business to compare your experience to.

You know nothing and because you worked your way up out of poverty, you believe you're qualified to invalidate the experience of baristas working present day.

Dunkin probably has no issue because they have minimal staffing issues and don't appease toeverycustomer request. But Starcucks tries to be everything to everyone out of greed and profit.

You haven't worked at a coffee shop before so you're unqualified to speak on it. You just can't handle being wrong and expect everyone to struggle as you have. It's pathetic.

Times have changes and whether you want to admit it or not.You are out of touch.

Their union must seriously blow assss through a straw if they don't even get the employee uniforms required to work covered by the employer, lol.

Also, I'm not a maple syrupcel, so pardon me for not understanding - but are you saying fast food/coffee joints like Tim Horton's offer actual benefits in Moosecel country? Americancels get laughed at for thinking like that, srs.

Dunkin donuts allows for more modifications than Starbucks. I have never had a request denied at Dunkin, I have at Starbucks. This is not about struggling, it's not about working hard, it's about a simple job, and you making it seem like you're fighting the Taliban in the middle east.

Like I said before, I own a cafe, now it's true that I don't work there. But we have a full service kitchen, unlike Starbucks, and yet my employees aren't having breakdowns.

My wife has been a "barista" and she says that job is a joke. To be fair, she has also worked at Michelin rated restaurants.

My point remains, Starbucks isn't a hard job, and adults should be striving for more than Starbucks. Any full grown adult who thinks Starbucks is a hard job, well they're not gonna make it.

In what universe would someone argue that being a barista is a "hard job"? Anywhere, by the way.

Let alone at Starbucks, where the quality of anything is 'terribad'.

When I was younger I was on a team that opened a major restaurant franchise.

I can remember 16 hour days. Stacking glasses right out of the washer so hot a little pressure would shatter them. Poor folks who couldn't speak a word of English in the dish pit.

Pretty much any line cook would LOL at a barista claiming they have a "hard job" and deserve 20/hour or whatever. My LatteGo 3200 at home with beans from McNulty's makes a better cappuccino than any Starbucks on this planet, period.

I didn't work hard at all. My parents moved us to the US when I was 8. Get me a triple mochaccino with two pumps of caramel, and 5 creams. Thanks boyo.

A barista seems like a horribly stressful job with those lines out the door and Karens with their ridiculously long drink orders. It may be worth $50 an hour to deal with that BS.

Edit: adding in the risk of getting burned as this happened to my friend.

Everyone's mentioning how chit the company is, meanwhile the customer base is worse. Imagine making "buying coffee" a tradition and a social media opportunity.

Skilled workers are headhunted.
This is the core issue. People with truly marketable skills are sought after. A fast food worker, which is what Starbucks employees are, simply can be found anywhere. And as many have noted, there's nothing special about Starbucks' products or coffee.

The real issue is that everyone is taught and instructed that they have more worth than they actually possess. Now, people should not be automatically looked down on if they are of lower value, as long as they are playing their own part in society, or trying to elevate themselves to another rung.

However, once such large parts of society start truly believing they are worth way more than they can exhibit, and then demanding treatment and compensation above what they are worth or can produce, well we're already there brahs and we gotta see how it plays out.

It is chit across the board. Starbucks would have automated the jobs already if it weren't for the political blowback.

Asking my name and writing it on a cup is peak social interaction for some I guess. A waste of time for me.

They're working in an air conditioned/heated location, that's pretty much busy during certain hours. And the the only qualification you need, is to be 16 and older.

It's not 4 hours. You're just reaching because you can't stand to be wrong.

You're also forgetting that over half of the time Baristas are trainined improperly due to staffing issues.
