This is a really good movie. I haven't seen it in years so I'm going to put it on my list to watch it again.

I love courtroom drama.

This 1957 legal drama was set in the jury room instead of the courtroom.

No judge, no prosecutors, no defense attorneys, and no defendant present.

But more thrill and excitement were there because of it.

No reasonable doubt about it.

Harold and Maude 1971

I love Ruth Gordon and I've revisited this movie many times. It's just so fantastic.

oh boy, watched this a few years ago.
Could't make it through the whole thing.
They were supposedly mad set on killing one another, in duel after duel.
Final straw was the 'duel' in that underground basement type setting, where they were swinging wildly… these supposed professional soldiers. A very basic thrust would have ended the lives of either one of those clowns right there and then…
Not one of Ridley Scott's good movies.
And by the way, he has plenty of bad movies.

Interesting that this movie wasn't always as beloved as it is now. Had it's share of detractors upon its release.

is English not your first language?
Because he has some bad movies, doesn't change that he has some other movies that are great.

Yet interesting in your response above, you address the point that Duelists ISN'T a good film.
But ignore and omit the reason I provide.

Also, I'd be willing to bet you only know of the Duelists because of the dud recent Napoleon film, which in one way or another led you to the Duelists (movie set in the same period by the same director).

Your reasons are nitpicky and I've been been familiar with Ridley Scott's filmography for well nigh 25 years and if you must know, I first saw The Duelists at the recommendation of my cousin around the time Kingdom of Heaven was released.

it's nitpicky, apparently, to see issues in a film where the only thing that happens is duel after duel in which neither person ever gets seriously injured.
But after so many repetitions of this formula, a very clear and obvious way out of this stupidity can be seen by anyone with any practical knowledge of fighting, yet the viewer is just supposed to shut up and keep watching the never ending stupidity and not find it tiring…

It's not a good movie.
It's just a vanity project set in the Napoleonic era but without the budget/resources to cover the period in any meaningful way, other than focusing on two guys allegedly set on murdering eachother, while dressed in the military style of the period…
Basically something you'd excuse if it was meant for TV.

I guess I and so many others who regard the film highly will have to brush up on our "fighting knowledge" to see the film for the turd it is…

Anyways, I like the film you don't, oh well. I won't slap you with a glove over it.

Given that this film revolves around the movie business I'm going to take a shine to this slightly less heralded Bogart classic. It also feature one of my favorite lines of dialog I've ever heard uttered at 1:19:40.

This is such a great movie. If you're a Bogart fan it's a must watch.

I didn't have time to watch anything today but last night I watched, "The Masque Of The Red Death" 1964. What can I say about Vincent Price…I got a mad crush on the guy, (like Mr.PissShivers has a mad crush on Doris Day LOL…)

There isn't a Vincent Price movie that I don't love. Even when he started in the smaller, supporting type roles where he wasn't that big…there's just something about his presence in front of the camera that I can't look away from…I don' know how else to describe it.

I would say the Masque of the Red Dead is in my top 5 VP movies, maybe even #2. My favorite is Theater of Blood. And its funny you mention him because I watched Diary of a Madman last night.

I need to go back and watch every movie he's ever made. His first film was in 1938 and I've seen a ton but I'm all over the place. I need to watch from the beginning to now in order. This should take me forever.
