Children have certainly mastered the art of selecting, negotiating and even refusing the chores their parents assign to them.



So kids can be overly protected from their parents in some ways, at the same time parents are giving their kids more power to outright defy their parents when it comes to chores, appearance, and other areas. So more and more kids have a force protecting them from the world while also being a pushover and allowing the kid to choose the easiest path at home by giving them too much power. Now do you understand?
So we want parents more involved but we also need to protect children from their parents? Is that another both/and?

Who decides which children need to be protected from their parents? Who does the protecting? Does protecting children from their parents maintain the idea of "nuclear family"?

Kids being capable of discerning right from wrong hasn't changed. Although it's been nearly 100 years since the 30's, cognition doesn't evolve that quickly.

I'm open to checking out evidence in support of the claim that more parents let kids do whatever they want now than in the 30's.
Again, admit that parenting has changed over the decades and I’ll continue to educate you(or at least provide valuable material whether or not you can comprehend it).
