No one here cares about soccer. The soccer culture here is non existent. It’s something that middle class families put their kids into for exercise until they’re ready to graduate to contact sports. The only reason the mls has even jumped to like the 6th or 7th most popular league here is because of the influx of Mexicans and Latin Americans to the Us. Other than them, no one here gives a ****.

Which goes to my point. If all of the athletes that participate in our more popular leagues, many of which are some of the fastest, highest jumping, quickest athletes on the planet, all grew up playing soccer instead, than yes, our soccer league and national team would be a force.

Hockey is played globally other than warm weather countries. This is why it’s in the Olympics buddy. Basketball is the 2nd most global sport. Baseball is played all over South America, Central America, Asia, and North America.

If basketball is popular in terms of playing numbers its because its the ultimate poverty sport. Almost nowhere has decently paid professional leagues in any of the those sports you mention.
