Oddly enough the few that are caught are really young between the ages of 13 and 17

Its clearly an orchestrated event, probably on a discord server.

There's no point in getting the license plates of their get-away cars because all the cars are stolen too.

The best way to stop this is to set up a sting where a business works with the police and cops are already in the store as stealth shoppers, then the moment chit goes down they apprehend as many as they can. Eventually one of them will narc.

They'll get caught. They'll get cocky with their success and that will be their downfall.

Oh for sure it is all organized via a group chat of some sort. Which is how they can coordinate everyone going in at once. You would think the cops could get an informant into one of their chats and find out ahead of time when a smash and grab is going to go down.

I am also guessing that the people stealing the stuff are not actually reselling the times. Rather they work for some loosely based organization that does all of that. Then they either just get paid a set amount or a commission from the resales.

In CA yes. Anything under $1000 is just a misdemeanor. So it is very profitable with very little risk of any harsh penalties.

Now maybe if they start prosecuting them as a group instead of individually so they can get over that $1000 limit that might change. But all you really hear from the CA dems is 'ohhhh this is so terrible it needs to stop', and then they just enact more lax and 'tolerant' crime laws.

It is all one big scam.
