This game is a huge steaming pile of garbage. The greedy developers had the audacity to increase the price to $70 and they still copy/paste the exact same animations as before. The toy-collecting introverted type of millennials kept roasting COD for being the same game every year, but when it's their precious arty-farty movie games that are "more of the same" it's suddenly a good thing. No, be consistent. If samey games aren't a problem now, then it just proves that these people were just jealous of COD annual releases, because they have to wait multiple years for their movie games. The gameplay is boring and repetitive. The story is trash. The dialogue is cringeworthy. What happened to MJ? She looks like one of the Wayans brothers dressed up as MJ for a White Chicks sequel. The missions are a joke. You can't even replay them at launch. A decent portion of those missions doesn't feel like I'm playing Spider-Man.
I don't want to play these stupid Life Is Strange missions, just let me punch monsters and bad guys. I saw a tree that literally looked N64 quality. No day/night cycle. ● The physics are beyond horrible. The water effects are easily one of the worst I've seen in a AAA game. Even Goat Simulator 3 has better splash effects, and I wish I was joking when I said that. The splash audio is laughable. When I kick enemies into the air, they glide like frisbees. But I thought Insomniac is quality. That's literally shovelware quality physics. It's funny how the game starts off with a physics class. If there's anyone that needs to take a physics class, it's Insomniac. Dude, they couldn't even get the physics right in a scripted cutscene, where cars were colliding like Hot Wheels. This game has many bugs and glitches. There are too many clipping issues. The game froze when I tried to attack enemies in a mission. Usually when I get stuck inside a building in open world games, it's because I'm going crazy with the gameplay mechanics.
In this game, I got stuck in a building and inside a box truck just by web slinging. The game crashed twice. The AI is incredibly stupid. There was a mission where a security guard literally saw me through the door shutters and he just stood there like a moron with his flashlight. I must've accidently entered a John Cena cheat code. ● There is nothing to do in the open world. I can play minigames and ride the bicycle in the missions, so why couldn't I do that in the open world? The minigames were trash anyways. Even COD IW has better minigames. But just imagine how fun it would be to use the web to bring the bicycle on top of buildings and ride on it, maybe fall off the buildings. Oh wait, that would actually require Insomniac to work on the physics. You can't even fall off the bicycle when colliding into cars.
The water clips inside the boats. The traffic AI is lazily designed. The cars don't have any braking physics. Instead they magically stop when you block their path. The traffic was bumping into a fender of a parked car and there wasn't a single scratch. The traffic just magically clips through it. The developers didn't even do the bare minimum by having the alarm go off on that parked car. I know this might seem like nitpicking, but these are basic details that PS3 GTA V have. I can make so many other examples like the police behavior, no faded crosswalks, no cars from the 90's and before, but the point is the game lacks depth and detail. I expected more from a 2023 PS5 $70 game. ● There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again.
Charging $70 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. Sony fanboys love to brag about Insomniac's frequent "quality" releases and even go as far as to call them the GOAT. Well that's pretty easy for them to do when these developers are too greedy and lazy to give us multiplayer. It's half the game, so half the work. And if you look at their track record since they became an internet darling, it's been nothing but short copy/pasted Spider-Man games and tech demos. Insomniac is the GOAT alright, they're the GOAT at T-pose glitches. Speaking of GOAT, even Goat Sim 3 has multiplayer. "Be greater together" how can I if there's no freaking co-op? It's embarrassing and pathetic when even Saints Row Reboot has co-op. The rollercoaster can't hit the player.
It magically clips through, whereas ancient GTA Online for example actually hits the player. It just proves the devs are too cheap and lazy to work on physics. I don't recommend this game at all

Insomniac Games’ follow-up to its 2018 hit Marvel’s Spider-Man (and the 2020 spinoff Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales) has so much positive energy and progressive political messaging that at one point I actually found my cheeks hurt from prolonged grinning.
As you swing through the game’s immense and detailed virtual New York you’ll take in a fantastically diverse city, filled with people of various ages, gender identities, physical abilities, and skin colours, all just living their lives.
There are cultural street festivals with dancing cooking you can almost smell. Rainbow and Ukrainian flags hang in front of stores. People speak in the languages in which they’re fluent, whether that means English, Spanish, or ASL.
And missions often up the positivity ante. Some of my favourites are ones where there isn’t even any fighting or action, but rather Spidey just doing friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man stuff. Like when he helps a gay kid arrange a series of surprises around campus for his boyfriend.
At one point someone says they want to pay Spider-Man for his service and he replies that Spider-Man never accepts payment… except for hugs. He’ll always take a hug.

Also how is "BIPOC" an actual term? Didn't "colored people" used to be offensive? Just switching the words and adding "of" makes it less dehumanizing now?

FWIW, it'd be just as lame if it was a bunch of MAGA chit thrown around everywhere.

"It's not really escapism if it just presents you with more of the same thing you have to see and do in real life. I could buy a Spiderman costume and experience seeing rainbow/Ukraine flags everywhere while dressed as Spiderman in real life, it would cost half as much as this game.
I'm glad you enjoyed performing mundane tasks from Spidey's POV, Chad, but no thanks. Not for me."- Tom Riley
Yeah, I mean that pretty much says it all really. Chit like this is why I have come to completely distrust and dismiss video games journalists, they are utter cucks who seem to love this kind of political pandering and reward it with high praise.

How ghey is this game for real? Platted the first one and the miles morales game but haven’t got around to buying this one. Been to busy with Lies of P. Hearing things and seeing some screenshots here and there that have me questioning if I even want to buy this. Serious potential to supplant the Arkham trilogy but sounds like they ruined it.
