Definitely contributed to the inflation that Biden is just getting us out of now.Rates had been at zero for nearly a decade. They barely raised them at all in 2017-18, still effectively almost zero. At their highest point, which lasted for all of a year they were still at their 3rd lowest in history. They were only lower in the decade beforehand, and 2002-2004. Rates right now are historically very average. The FED causes these big bust and boom cycles. I can understand them dropping rates when OVERpanic about Covid hit, but they should have started raising rates by mid-2021 at the latest. Especially since tons of "free" money was being thrown around, with poorcels getting paid more to sit on their asses than they'd ever earned working.
The overheating they helped create they're undoing now. Automobiles are going to be in the same boat as foreclosed homes were during the Great Recession. Credit cards - fogedaboudit. Tons of people using them more than ever because inflation has been high. Lots of defaults coming there. Home prices will take a while to come back down, since the bust after a housing bubble takes years to play out. I'd advise a lot of people to move their investments into slow growth, high dividend stocks and don't sell for several years, but that's probably a thread all its own.

In 2019, the average inflation rate was about 1.8%, that is below 2% so the fed cut interest rates.
I'd like the fed to do its job, If the fed did its job, they would have raised interest rates in 2021.
Biden goes on to spend money that wasn't needed or wasn't needed given inflation.
The fed allows Biden to do this and they still don't raise interest rates with inflation.
The fed and Biden did this to make him look good economically in 2021 and 2024.
If the fed raises rates in 2021, the economy crashes and Biden never looks good economically.
The economy doesn't recover from domestic strength, it recovers from rate cuts.
Biden also can't spend money and we don't aggravate Russia into war.

I know you want to point everything at Trump, but those are partisan DNC talking points. The Fed saw the economy was having slower growth in 2019 after growth had accelerated for a few years. Inflation had gotten so low in 2019 there was talk (with some mild panic among neoliberals) of deflation, and the Fed wasn't having that either. They don't give a fuk what the President says. Trump cries about a lot of things, and still does. They didn't lower from a whopping (sarcasm) 2.5 to 1.75 based on his whining. They were worried about deflation, as the inflation rate was barely 1% for 2019 until they did that slight lowering of rates. The Fed started increasing rates in late 16 and got them to 2.25 - 2.5 by 19. The Fed LOVES 2% inflation and will do whatever they can to get it there. Once they lowered rates slightly inflation went back up to 2%. They know now they're going to cause a recession and millions of unemployed to get us at that 2% target again. They don't care. Powell has said so, unabashedly. It's why I've been laughing at people calling a Fed pivot would happen for about 9 months now. They may pause for awhile but they're not dropping rates until we get back to 2% inflation or we have an economic crash. That 2% inflation rate is holy for them.

I think, no, I know tax cuts and government spending increase available dollars.
So I know Trump's tax cuts and spending during his term increased available dollars but that's not the end of the story, well, it's the end of the story if you want to ignore context. Yes, Trump's tax cuts and spending increased available dollars to Americans BUT Americans enjoyed an average inflation rate of around 1.9% from 2016 to 2020, had big income increases before 2020 spending and the spending in 2020 was largely necessary. It's not impossible to make Americans richer from top to bottom while enjoying a relatively deflationary environment.

This is why so many have issues with you. It is fine to hate Trump and conservatives. Whatever. OF course you are obsessed with Trump but that is another story. But to just make up outright lies like this? It makes you look like a crazy person. You do this all of the time when it comes to the economy and interest rates. I know some of this stems from the fact that you are just not very educated on the matter....but wow.
You have to understand 2 things. One whether interest rates are at 1% of 3-4% makes little know difference in the overall economy. You get up over 5-7% then yeah things start to tighten up economically. But you talking about Trump demanding a half a point cut and how detrimental that was to inflation? Just no lol.
When the Fed makes their Interest rate statements on raising or lowering....it isn't about the actual 1/4 to 1/2 point raise. It is meaningless. What matter is what the FED says. It's tone. And what the market reads into that as far as interest rate levels in the coming 1-2 years. The market always looks forward. Not behind or in the present.
I don't expect you to know this as most people don't, but you really need to understand the basic concepts if you are going to speak about this.
Not to mention and this is something that you have never brought up.......in the late 2017-2019 the Fed was worried greatly about DEflation. Not inflation. That was all you read about for months. Asset devaluation and how that is going to kill the economy. So of course they are not going to raise interest rates then.
But you never ever mention that.

Biden sadly had reversed much of that and the economy is slowing down as a result.

Remember you and all the libs calling DeSantis a murderer when he left FL open?
Businesses are open and masks are gone (as they should have been the entire time) because the covid virus ran its course. As all viruses do. They mutate and eventually either die off or become less viral. There is no more covid today in FL than there is in NYC or CA because again....the virus ran its course. Only difference is FL stayed open the whole time.
I mean....do you want to give Biden credit for curing the entire world of covid? Because the same thing that happened in the USA (virus dying off) happened everywhere.

As I said all that matters is what the Fed says in its minutes. Is the tone one of opening or tightening? Is that tone and pattern likely to last a year or longer?
That is ALL the markets look at. As I said once interest rates get to a certain level and stay there for an extended period? Then of course that can effect the economy as we are seeing with housing sales for example. But for the most part the FEDs likely pattern is what is looked at.
For example if the FED thinks inflation is under control? They may leave interest rates at a 5-6% level at the next Fed meeting but say in their minutes that they are likely to start lowering in the near future if things continue to improve. That would spur a bigger stock market response and overall business climate response than an actual rate cut to 3% but with a caveat that they may raise again in the near future. Of course the FED would never make such a drastic cut but I am just trying to show what the market looks at...and that is 6-12 months into the future.

Most jobs ever. Market up bigly. Wages up bigly.
And now Trumpinflation coming in at 5% from a high of 9% less than a year ago. All without a single chit tweet from the president criticizing the Fed for BIGLY raising interest rates.
Biden's really got this country on the right track and out of the wreckage Trump left!
Thanks Joe!
And now Trumpinflation coming in at 5% from a high of 9% less than a year ago. All without a single chit tweet from the president criticizing the Fed for BIGLY raising interest rates.

Dat dere Biden economy.
Dat dere Biden economy.
Biden has already brought down Trumpflation from 9% to 5%. And can you tell me what actions Biden took that outweigh the $8T in debt Trump added, his bullying the Fed to keep rates near 0%, and his tax cuts for the rich that bigly increased the amount of dollars available, and his horrid handling of covid that crushed supply chains.
Other than that, inflation is clearly on Biden....

Maybe acknowledge that bringing the country back from the mess left by Trump in 2 years is pretty amazing.

All those questions have already been answered, you apparently don't want them.
Even your series of questions sometimes anwser themselves, "Was unemployment 7% and GDP negative?" to "Explain to me how Biden spend 1/3rd of what Trump did caused inflation." is more like a question and anwser rather than two congruent questions. Yes unemployment was high and GDP low due to a global pandemic which explains why so much money was spent under Trump in 2020, what Biden spent was largely unnecessary and the fed never checked him by raising rates in response to his unnecessary spending.
Now ask the same questions again.

It's so insightful seeing how you people "think." No wonder a moron conman like Trump has been able to recruit so many of you to his cult.

If Biden is proof of anything, it's that we really don't need a president.
