because aids still isn't curable, and while it is a problem its not like 99% of the population is dying from aids

immunotherapy is the future
but just lol @ all the *******s getting worked up over this. 10 million per year? 8 million people, mostly kids, die every year because of starvation. By 2050 that number will be greater than 10 mil as the population increases by 30%. But I take it none of you are worried about that? Because you have first world privilege and only concern yourself with threats to your own life

you guys need to eat more raw garlic. it releases a compound called allicin which is an all natural antibiotic. If you pair that with some good organic/raw sauerkraut you simply wont get sick. Ive been on that garlic/kraut time for about 3 years and have yet to get sick... look it up boyos

claimed our child suffered with a late start to his 'treatment' when she got him back and went to the doc. im rustled max over here brahs

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

Edit: there's too much misinformation ITT. Not going to address it all.
- currently a lot of research re: antibiotics at universities. No one is ignoring this because "big pharma" (insert bs CT argument).
- medical community is well aware of the drug resistant bug situation and for the past 5-10 years has been jamming judicious use of these drugs down everyone's throat especially students and residents. Expect it to be a nightmare to get antibiotics down the road.
- there have been new antibioticsc just no FDA approved new mechanism of action. And see #1.
- doesn't matter if you currently have an "Alpha" immune system. At some point you'll be susceptible to an infection happens to everyone especially the sick, young, and old.

Can someone in the field explain this: won't bacteria continually acquire resistance even to new antibiotics until it gets to a point where there's just no new antibiotics to be developed? Might not happen in 50 years, but when it happens, is that the end?

Amazing how many retards are comparing this to Ebola and Swine flu even after I explicitly explained the difference in my first post.
Let me make this as simple as possible... Imagine life PRIOR to antibiotics:
FACTS ABOUT LIFE PRIOR TO ANTIBOTICS:
1) The average life span was 47
2) Pnemounia killed almost HALF of all victims
3) Childbirth had an extremely high mortality rate
4) Basic surgeries were incredibly dangerous since infections could enter the body with zero resistance.
Being healthy and having a good immune system will only get you so far.

We'll develop new antibiotics that will work. It might take a while but we'll do it. It's basically a biological arms race.
Maybe once this sinks in we'll stop giving our livestock antibiotics like its candy so they can breed resistant organisms.

But who was common medical knowledge? Hygiene? Band-aids? Rubbing alcohol? Rest and recovery?
Antibiotics are still effective, against their range of strains.
The issue is you guys probably think that these regular strains just had some epiphany and figured out how to shield itself against all types of antibiotics and then spread the knowledge via twitter to every other bacteria in the world.
Not how it works.
There are common strains that are treated with antibiotics which may happen to contain some mutant bacteria in there already that are resistant to antibiotics. Although they are present, they would normally be such a small amount that your body's immune system would just deal with it easily once the antibiotics clear out like 99.99% of the bacteria.
Honestly, do you guys all believe that a simple scratch or small cut will most likely kill you? Do you all run to your medicine cabinet and rub antibiotic ointment on it immediately and pray that you survive? No, most of the time you probably don't even notice till a few minutes later and then throw on a band-aid mostly so you don't get blood everywhere. You may also wash it or put rubbing alcohol on it.
This is literally just fear mongering.
